Default Any other ideas?

A little background...

I am 30 years old, and on my last routine eye exam to update my eyeglass prescription, my eye doc asked if I had considered contacts. I told him I had tried over 10 years ago but was not able to get them in. He convinced me he could show me and I left his office with a trail pair of Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism and a trial of BioTrue solution. After a week of irritated eye lids I finally developed the skills to get them in and out. What a hurdle.

But a week later I was in his office again because of a constant sand paper feel that would not go away, although I was happy with the freedom and clear vision. I then left his office with trail pair of Air Optix for Astigmatism and continued with the same BioTrue solution. Air Optix are much more comfortable for me! But it was only a few days before they seem to get cloudy. I work nights so it may be more apparent to me. Streetlights halo, vehicle headlights starburst, and it appears foggy all the time. Sometimes only after a few hours. I have to take them out and rub with solution, then reinsert. The Acuvue did not do this, same solution, etc.

I went back today and was given a trail of Clear Care solution. My contacts are soaking right now and I really hope this solves my problem. I know not to rush the soaking as my eye doc was very clear how bad it can be to put clear care that hasn't been neutralized in your eye. Does anyone have any other ideas if this doesn't work? I really want contacts to work for me, but good vision is very important in my job. Sorry if that was long winded, just like to be thorough.

Hi zully.

It's nice to have you here on Lens 101. While your contacts are soaking, take a look around this forum and see what it has to offer. Be sure to stop by the sunglasses section, too. There are a ton of questions there, but not many replies.

I sound like a tour guide, don't I? Stop by our Gift Shop on your way out!

Okay, I'm certainly not an expert on contact lenses, but I have heard a lot of good things about Clear Care.

You may want to get your eyes checked. When I searched your symptoms I found a lot of sites about cataracts and LASIK surgery complications. You probably want to rule out eye problems first before trying different lenses and such. If your eyes are in good shape and you don't get good results from Clear Care, you might try a different brand of contact lenses.

I agree with FaceofBoe. If you're having problems with fogging and star bursts, get your eyes checked just to make sure it's the contacts and not your eyes.

Well I was given an eye exam a month ago when I got my first trial pair and the doc found nothing out of the ordinary. Plus, no halos/starbursts with glasses at night. The Clear Care seems to have fixed the cloudyness but not the halos, etc. I think I will see if the doc will let me trail one more lens.

It's good to know that your eyes are healthy. I hope a different brand of contact lenses will do the trick.

So have you tried a different kind of contact lenses and gotten favorable results? I'm glad the Clear Care worked somewhat. I think that's the closest thing I've read to complaint about Clear Care in Lens 101.

Have you seen your eye doctor yet and asked about trying out a new brand of contact lenses?
