Hello!
Brand new to contacts as of last Saturday. My doctor said I had slight astigmatism in my right eye and gave me the regular Air Optix for my left and the toric Air Optix for my right. With my left lens I cannot tell it is in at all, however, with the right one, I can actually see the base of it (I see the bottom curve of the lens) when it's in my eye and I have a slight, weird depth perception thing going on. Could this be because my astigmatism is so slight I need a regular lens, and that's why I can see the curve of the toric one when it's in, or is this how toric lenses are? I go back for a follow-up next week but just curious if anyone has heard of this before. Thanks for any insight! |

Welcome to the forum. I don't wear toric lenses but have slight astigmatism in both my eyes (-0.50D and -0.75D). If the astigmatism is -0.75D or less, many doctors will not correct the astigmatism with a toric lenses and in fact most toric contacts are only available starting with a cylinder of -0.75D up to about -1.50D, depending on the manufacturer of the lenses. I wouldn't get too hung up on seeing the lens in your eye. You know it's there and are looking very closely for it, but others won't see it. It probably needs some time to adjust to the lens. It's good that you have a follow up visit with your eye care professional to discuss any concerns you have and to check the vision and the fit, etc. knotlob |

I have to agree with Knotlob that your issues have to do with gett used to having lenses in your eyes. I think it's like when you put on some new shoes and they feel a bit stiff and heavy. A few days later and you don't even think about your feet any more. I think that if you just wear your contacts for a few more days, you will forget that they're there. Check back in a week or so and tell us how you're doing, okay? |
