Default Confused about my prescription

Before I started wearing a toric lens in my right eye, my prescription for that eye was -4.25. I was told that I have -1.50 astigmatism in that eye. My eye doctor then gave me an air optix trial for
-4.00x0.75x10. I was getting headaches so I went back to see if my headaches could be coming from not having the astigmatism corrected all the way. So then he gave me an air optix trial that was
-4.00x1.25x10. I then was looking on the computer and saw that when you increase the cylinder for the astigmatism, the first number in the prescription goes down. I then went back again to the eye doctor and it was a substitute doctor and then he prescribed me an air optix trial for -3.75x1.25x10. So now I am confused. Which one would be best if my original presciption before the toric was added was -4.25?

Another question is if my eyeglass prescription says -1.50 for astigmatism, will that be the same amount in my contact lens prescription too?

Greetings, ashleymarie0022. Welcome to Lens 101. The way you write out your prescription is a little unusual. I'm thinking that the first set of numbers means -4.00 sphere, which corrects your nearsightedness, 0.75 cylinder and 10 axis. That prescription gave you headaches so the new prescription was the same except for the cylinder, which was upped to 1.25. I don't know how that would affect the sphere, though. Maybe someone else knows more about prescriptions that I do and can be of more help.

For your last question, it would be very unusual for your cylinder measurement to be -1.50 in both glasses and contact lenses. The lens in your glasses is a few centimeters in front of your eye instead of actually touching it, so that changes the number.
