Default Night Driving With Altair Clip On Sunglasses - Doctor's Orders?

Of course, driving at night with sunglasses on is a bad idea in general. However, is it possible that some people may see perfectly well during the day, but at night they may have problems with glare that really can't be treated surgically? Might these people be told by their doctors to wear Altair Clip On Sunglasses while driving at night?

I did a Google search for "night driving sunglasses." I discovered that such a thing does exist, and they have bright yellow lenses, as you can see by the picture below.

Here's what ehow.com has to say: "Night driving sunglasses are becoming more common. If you need sunglasses for night driving look for a yellow tint. This helps improve the contrast of night vision driving glasses."

Now, I don't know of anyone being told by their doctor to wear them, but they are available.

Hey, thanks, ICU2. I never thought of wearing yellow sunglasses at night. Do they have to be specially designed for night driving, or can they be any yellow/amber lenses?

I think I would go with some kind of sunglasses that are specifically designed for night driving. This is something you want to be careful with.

I agree, ICU2. I would advise people to be very careful with wearing sunglasses at night. In fact, I wouldn't try it at all. If my eye doctor told me they were safe for night driving, fine. Otherwise, the risk is just too great.

Yeah. I'd hate to wrap my car around a tree just because I want to take an ill-advised trip at night while wearing sunglasses.
