CooperVision has announced today that it has filed a lawsuit in federal district court in Texas, alleging that CIBA Vision's O2Optix contact lenses infringe various US patents assigned to CooperVision.
CooperVision is asserting that it owns the innovations that control the edge characteristics of certain types of contact lens as wells as novel designs for certain lenses, including types of toric lenses. The Rochester, New York-based company is also seeking a judicial declaration in a Delaware court that its Biofinity silicone hydrogel lenses, yet to be launched in the UK, do not infringe certain CIBA Vision patents.
