Eye Health group Bausch and Lomb has stopped shipping its ReNu brand contact lens solution after more than 100 people using the product reported a serious eye infection.
The US Food and Drug Administration says 109 cases of a rare but serious infection that may cause loss of vision have been reported to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. Bausch and Lomb's stock was halted in afterhours trading on Monday after falling more than 9% after the news. The FDA says the infection may lead to vision loss requiring corneal transplants.
