As health authorities in the US investigate a possible link between Bausch and Lomb’s “ReNu MoistureLoc” contact lens cleaning solution and a rare eye fungus, retailers took the initiative of removing the product from shelves across the U.S. to prevent more infections.
The FDA made a statement saying for now no direct link has been established between the product and the high number of cases of Fusarium Keratitis, a rare fungal infection that may cause blindness if left untreated. Bausch and Lomb have voluntarily agreed to stop shipping the ReNu MoistureLoc brand contact lens solution, and are working in full cooperation with the FDA investigation. The Turkish Ministry of Health is also issuing alerts to users and retailers of the product.
