Default Unbreakable Autoflex Clip On Sunglasses

The website claims that these clip on sunglasses are tough. They say that Autoflex clip ons will return to their proper shape after being bent.
It's not that I don't believe them. it's just that I'd like to hear some stories about people who thought they had broken their Autoflex clip ons, but they didn't. Have got a story like that? We'd love to hear it.

Yeah, I'd like to hear some stories like that too, Nichobec. Do you remember those commercials about Timex watches where people told horror stories about the horrible abused their watches endured? Those were neat. I was hoping for something like that here, but I guess no one has posted any yet.

Come on you guys? Do you mean to tell me that none of you have had a mishap with your Autoflex clip-on sunglasses?

Well, Type 40. I guess if anyone who is reading Lens 101 has had a mishap with their Autoflex clip on sunglasses, they're too shy to come forward and talk about it.

That must be it Nichobec. Either that or no one wears Autoflex. Could that be possible?

Autoflex are good clip on sunglasses, I'm sure someone wears them. Maybe it's the whole "clip on" part that people don't like. I'm not terribly fond of clip ons myself.

Default The magnetic ones do break

I don't have these clip-ons, but after my last eye exam I purchased a pair of Autoflex Ultraclip glasses with the sunglasses that attach with magnets. I made the mistake of letting my 2-year-old granddaughter play with them. First thing she did was bend them until the frame snapped in the bend next to the right lens. Luckily they are still under warranty, and they were replaced. I pulled the new set out of their little cloth bag last week and discovered the right lens bent way over. I have no idea how it happened. When I tried to bend it back, the frame broke in exactly the same place as before. I figured they were the same glasses I originally had and they just tried to repair them. But the folks at the eyeglasses place swore they were new. They replaced them again.

Obviously they are putting some stress in the metal when they form the frames, and aren't doing anything to relieve them.

Thank you for giving us a real-life story about the durability of Autoflex clip-on sunglasses. They may be tough, but apparently they're not 2-year-old proof. Not many things are.
