Default Autoflex Sunglasses For Evan

Evan Michael Longoria is a third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays. Formerly, Longoria was a star infielder for the Long Beach State college baseball team, the 2005 Cape Cod League MVP, and the 2006 Big West Co-Player of the Year. He made his major league debut for the Rays in 2008 and was named to the American League team for the 2008 MLB All Star Game. Longoria was also named the 2008 American League Rookie of the Year on November 10.
Does anyone know what kind of sunglasses he wears while playing third base in sunny Florida?

Here he is wearing Nike Sunglasses, from an article that looks at his stats and makes the point that Longoria bats better when wearing sunglasses at the plate.

Has anyone else seen this article and can "give us the digits" on how his batting average improves when he slips on his shades?

I tried Face, but I couldn't come up with anything that compared Longoria's stats with and without sunglasses. Sorry.

Hi there.

I thought I'd give it a try as well and came up with nothing.

Boy you'd think that with all that stuff you hear on TV about a hitter's batting average in Monday games when the wind was from the southeast and a man on third, they'd have some kind of statistics about a batter's performance with an without sunglasses--whose home stadium is in Florida.

Don't worry guys, I found the article: http://www.raysindex.com/2009/06/the-curious-case-of-evan-longorias-disappearing-sunglasses.html

Here's an excerpt for those who can't bear to leave Lens 101:

In total, the Rays have played 4 games in sunny conditions this season, and Longoria is 5-15 with 5 strikeouts, 2 walks and a hit by pitch. That includes a 3-5 outing in Baltimore the second week of the season. And while we have not gone through every at bat, it appears as though yesterday’s first at bat was the only time this season he wore sunglasses while batting.

Does Longoria struggle in the sun? The numbers suggest that he does, and he certainly looked uncomfortable yesterday. And his indecisiveness when it comes to sunglasses suggests that he is struggling to find a comfort zone in day games.

Wow. A Florida team playing only 4 games in a season when it was sunny. I guess that means unless you're the Cubs, you play most of your games at night. No sun then, obviously.
