Default Less Jet Lag With Autoflex Sunglasses?

If you are going on a long plane trip you could benefit from wearing sunglasses as they can reduce the effects of jet-lag, say researchers from the Edinburgh Sleep Centre, Scotland. It seems that by altering your light patterns you can tweak your body-clock to adjust to new time zones more easily.

Researchers examined one thousand passengers on long-haul flights. They found that for every hour difference when you travel westwards it takes a day to recover from the effects of jet-lag (without sunglasses). The researchers found that travelers recovered faster if they wore sunglasses during some their trip. Has anyone tried this with Autoflex Sunglasses?

Unfortunately, I've only flown a handful of times, and never across that many time zones, but that doesn't mean I don't think I'd look good with sunglasses in the cabin.

I'm with you Logopolis. I've only flown through two time zones at most.

Anyway, I found the article that supports this hypothesis. It's right here: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/41338.php

However, it says that when you get to the airport, security will probably tell you to remove your shades, and that can lessen the benefit you get from wearing them.

I wonder if putting on shades at a decent bedtime will allow me to stay up a little later and not feel so tired in the morning?

Hmmmm . . .

That's an interesting idea Sevateem. Maybe I'll try it. Stay tuned.

I thought I'd give that sunglasses at bedtime thing a try. The thing is, mine was hardly a scientific study. When I put my sunglasses on at bedtime, then hit the sack an hour or so later, I usually felt pretty good the next morning. Did I feel better than I did when I didn't wear the shades? It's hard to say. I might have to delve a little deeper and make sure I eliminate as many variable as possible.
Perhaps I should always go to bed at the same time, and wake up the same time the next morning. I suppose I should also have some kind of way to quantify how tired I am the next morning, maybe be recording what time I actually get out of bed. If my alarm goes off at 6 am, and I don't get out of bed until 7:30 when I don't wear the sunglasses, but get out of bed at 6:30 when I do, maybe I'll have something.

Further research is needed. Do we have any volunteers?

That sounds like a good idea, but I have a hard time getting to bed at the same time every night. Usually because I'm on the computer.

Thanks for your input everyone. We still don't have anything from someone who has tried this. Do we have any takers?

I had almost forgotten about this post. I may have to give it a try since I went to bed way too late last night and was about five minutes late this morning because I overslept. Maybe the sunglasses will help.

I tried putting on sunglasses at about bedtime and then stayed up about an hour or two later, but I didn't notice a difference the next morning. It's hardly a scientific study, but that's what I experienced.

Now get some sleep.

Okay, so you were less than impressed. Did anyone else try this and felt terrific in the morning?

Nobody so far. What do we have to do to get people to come to this thread and try this experiment.

*Snap*

Got it.

Hey everybody. How about if you pretend you're even cooler than those nocturnal beautiful people from Twilight? Wear your sunglasses at night and see how you feel during the day.

Check out that dude on the right. "I'm so handsome I don't even really have to smile."

Check out the curly-haired gentleman next to him, mixing the plaid and striped shirts with a crooked grin that says "Duh?"

Nice gratuitous picture there, herbking.

Who here came to this site because they found the picture in a search?

I came to this thread because I'm a member answering as many questions as I can.
