Default Autoflex 41 Clip Sunglasses in Satin Gep

I found these clip on sunglasses on line and they come in three colors: brown (shown here), steel gray, and something called "satin gep." What is "satin gep?"

I did a search and this term is not easy to find. I can see why you're asking for help.

Anyway, I finally found a description that said that it's "similar to taupe."

Okay, so what's "taupe"? According to gool ol' Wikipedia: "Taupe (pronounced "tope") refers to a dark grayish-brown color. The word 'taupe' derives from the Latin name for the European Mole, Talpa europaea.

Taupe is a vague, unscientific color term which may be used to refer to almost any grayish-brown, brownish-gray, or warm gray color. It often overlaps with tan and even people who use color professionally (such as designers and artists) frequently disagree as to what 'taupe' means. There is no single, generally recognized authority for such terms."

Well, that's clear as mud, now, isn't it?

Okay, so "gep" is a color that's similar to "taupe" which is sort of a grayish-brown, brownish-gray, or warm gray color. I think we're agreed that taupe has something to do with gray. It may have some brown to it, it may not.

I found a color sample. You decide.

So "satin gep" looks like this, but shiny like, um, stain. Right?

Default Nice Try

I'm glad I could make so many people happy with a simple taupe swatch.

However I was unsuccessful in my attempt to find a picture of a pair of satin gep Autoflex 41 Clip Sunglasses on the interwibble.

Taupe Swatch. That sounds like a great name for a rock band. People would forever be misspelling it. Maybe they could be like the Monkees and deliberately misspell it as "Tope Swatch."

Or not. Probably not.
