Default Positive Experience with Avaira

I've had a very positive experience recently with my Avaira trial lenses. I received them (along with air optix, Biofinity, & Acuvue moist) after my trial with Acuvue TruEyes didn't go se well.

I wore them last week for 5 days and took them out at night. Compared to the TruEyes, my eyes could actually breath! It was sooooo nice

The first 2 days my right eye felt uncomfortable and was a little irritated, but after that the remainder of the time I wore them I was in contact heaven! I didn't need any rewetting drops, I coiuld wear them for 12+ hours (i'm a mom of 3 and graduate student) and still not need to use drops with them. They were much more breathable than the TruEyes, and of course, although they aren't dailies (which is what I wanted), I really liked them. i'm a allergy sufferer and have sinusitis, so I have a lot of sinus pressure. I think that is what played a part in the slight discomfort in my right eye for the first 2 days.

What I liked the most is that I couldn't feel them in my eyes, so to speak. I think maybe they have a higher water % in the material.

Anyways, I just started the Air Optix trial 2 days ago, so i'll hop over there now and post. If you have any questions, please let me know! I would definitely pay the price for the Avaira's (which is around $170'something for 12 months).

Thank you for that Avaira review. It's always good to read someone's positive experience.

In case you were wondering, Avaira is 54% enfilcon A and 46% water. That's not a whole lot of water, and quite a few brands have more water than that, but as long as they're comfortable and they help you see things in sharp focus, what do the numbers matter, right?

Speaking of numbers, how much is just one box of six Avaira lenses where you get them?

Thanks for that, now I remember looking at the water/dk information and seeing the were considered low water b/c they're under <50. For me, I believe as long as the lens is breathable, I am happy. I am not sure what my doc charges for the lenses, but i've always purchased mine from Wal-Mart (800contacts.com). I believe there's are around $27 per box. However, I usually buy at minimum 6 mo supply. I never knew there was anywhere else to purchase contacts except through your OD (which I have done too and were $$$$$), and through Wal-Mart.

Also, after my f/u, she changed me from -2.00 in my right eye to a -2.25. My left eye was already -2.25. I see a lot better with my right eye at -2.25.

If you click on that red banner up there that says "Lens.com" it will take you to that website where you can get Avaira lenses for as low as $23.95 a box, and lenses with a -2.25 prescription are available there. Check them out and see if you'd like to order from there instead.

R2D2,
I will definitely check out lens.com when I am finally ready to order! I'm still trying to get my allergies under check and i'm on antibiotics for a sinus/r ear infection, so my contacts trials haven't been going well. Thanks for the tip, though. Anything to save $$$!

What kind of infection?

Oh . . . right ear. I thought . . . never mind.

Sorry. I was being silly. I hope that infection clears up quickly and that you will order from the Lens.com and let us know if they treat you well.

Yeah, that was pretty funny, Uhura. Good one.

If you want to check the prices at Lens.com, just click that very subtle large, bright red "lens.com" sigh hanging over the page like a Borg cube.

I'm sorry, am I going to have to translate for all the non-nerds on this board?

Do you speak Nerd, redraidermommy?

Does the phrase "I've got a bad feeling about this" mean anything to you?

That "big eyed kitty" looks pretty "skeeeered" to me. Perhaps you're both running away in opposite directions.

That or the kitty's wearing those contact lenses that make your eyes look really big.
