That's a good question, Unicorn3. I think that if I were going to spend the money on Avaira contacts, I'd wear them every day. I get upset when I miss the bus because then that means I've wasted a day on my 30 day bus pass.

Still, there are people out there who have Avaira contact lenses that can last for two weeks if you don't sleep in them, and i bet a lot of those people make sure to wear those lenses every single day. |

By far the Avaira contact lenses are the best in comfort. I can wear them all day long. My only complaint is that they do not last full two weeks. I do not sleep with my contacts on. I remove them daily, I clean and disinfect my contacts according to my Doctor's instructions. When I remove them at the end of the day I rub them in the palm back and forth motion, not in a circular motion. The most I have gotten out of a pair is 10 days, after the 10th day they are fuzzy. Sometimes they get fuzzy after 8 full days. I have tried different solutions, no change. When I get a new pair of contacts I see crystal clear for a full week. |

I'm no eye doctor, but it sounds to me like you're doing everything right. I did a brief search but there's nothing about a recall or a general complaint about how Avaira goes fuzzy after less than two weeks. That tells me it's probably not a production defect. It may be that you just got some bad lenses. I hope it's as simple as that, but I have a feeling we're going to have to dig a little deeper. |

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my posting. Well so far three pairs out of the same box are producing same results. I just picked up a fresh pair, once again, when I pick up a fresh pair I see crystal clear (day & night) for a good seven days. I wear my contacts anywhere from 8 - 10 hours a day. On weekends I wear them 12 hours. I never sleep with my contacts on. My first pair out of the new box lasted 11 days. My second pair lasted 8 days. My third pair lasted 9 days. Maybe I am expecting too much from of my contacts? Is it unreasonable to expect full 14 days usage? K-9 you just gave me a good idea. Here is what I am going to do: I am going to continue to use the fresh pair I just picked up out the same box. When I am done with those, I am going to pick a fresh pair from another box (unopened) and keep track to see how long they are going to last. I am sure this is going to tell me alot. If the pair I am going to pick up from an unopened box lasts 14 days, then there's something wrong with the contacts from the opened box in question. |

It'sThursday now, and feeling a lot better. I am able to open both eyes, but right eye is still sore and sensitive to light. I have been wearing contacts for nearly 20 years and have never had this problem before, and for the first 10 years I had some very bad habits. I use to sleep with contacts in for weeks at a time. I would wear weekly contacts for months at a time. I wised up about ten years ago, and have been pretty good at following proper usage. I'm finding it hard to believe that a 45 minute nap would make my contacts so dry that they would take some of my cornea with them when I took them out. Since I was having problems with them soon after putting them in, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the contacts themselves. It was a new box of a brand I've never used. I had never purchased them online before, not sure if they were exposed to extreme temperatures while they were being shipped, or if even that would affect them. It was a new prescription for one eye, not sure if that even matters. So many questions. If anyone has experienced this before, or has some insight, it would be much appreciated if you replied. |

I will contact Lens.com and ask if I can go back to Softmed Breathable Toric. Although most of the reviews I read about the Avaira Toric lenses were positive. I'm wondering if it was just a bad batch. I will post again when I figure it out. Thanks for the reply Ynot.

Yeah, I doubt if they'll sell you the Sofmed contacts without a valid up-to-date prescription. Let us know how your order goes, okay?

Hello Beckifera, I am here.
What happened was there is a voluntary recall by Coopervision on the Avaira Toric. After verifying the lot number of the Avaira I had in my posession were affected by the recall I was instructed to return them to my point of sale for a full refund. I went to see my Doctor, her office already had knowledge of the recall. She switched me temporarily to Biofinity, also made by Coopervision, monthly contact lenses intended for overnight wear, they are also a bit more expensive. I have no appetite to sleep with my contacts, my Doctor does not recommend sleeping with contacts as well. However I am going to stay with Biofinity, I like them. I feel like these contacts allow more oxygen to get to my eyes. Sometimes I apply my contacts at 7AM and do not remove them until 10:00PM and my eyes do not feel tired. When I was wearing Avaira Toric my eyes felt tired. So, I went back to my Doctor's office to tell her I want to stay with Biofinity. She is totally okay with it. |

Like I said I would not have known the difference if it wasn't for the recall. The voluntary recall by Coopervision is what made go back to my Doctor for an alternate. It is going to take Coopervision couple of months to get Avaira's out on the streets again. For the records, Biofinity Toric are more expensive contacts than Avaira Toric, they are monthly contacts. However I think in the long run the cost is comparable to Avaira Toric because one box of Biofinity Toric should last six months. One box of Avaira's Toric lasts three months, contacts are good for 14 days. What I like about Biofinity Torics is the amount of oxygen that gets to my eyes since they are intended for overnight wear. Although I will never sleep with my contacts on. But I like them when I have long days. Sometimes I put them on at 7AM and do not remove them until 10PM. The next day my eyes do not feel tired or dehydrated. |

Yes I have, I am subscribed to couple of threads in the Biofinity section. I'll be leaving this section soon since I am not wearing Avaira Toric anymore.

I may get kicked out of this thread by the moderator since I do not wear Avaira Toric contact lenses anymore.

I think the only way you'd get kicked out would be if you posted something abusive or you repeatedly tried to sell something that's got nothing to do with contact lenses, glasses or sunglasses.

Btw, It is almost a month since I switched to Biofinity, last weekened I wore my Avaira Toric, I felt the difference between the Biofinity and Avaira Toric at the end of the day. Bottom line is that after 10 hours of continous wear my eyes feel a little tired with the Avaira Toric. I could wear my Biofinity Toric for 12 or 15 hours and my eyes do not feel tired. The reason is because the Biofinity Toric (monthly contacts) are intended for overnight wear so allows plenty of oxygen to get to the eyes. |

That's terrific. If there's one thing this forum needs is people to answer questions and provide feedback. Carry on.

That's just the attitude we like to see around here, robbykennedy. Let's have some of your feedback.

Do you find that one day a week is better than others? I like Mondays because there are lots of posts that had been added over the weekend that are waiting to be answered. They like flopping fish in the bottom of the boat. |

How come we haven't heard from you since October? Where have you been? We could use your feedback.
