Default SofLens 66 to Avaira Toric

I've been wearing the SofLens 66 for years (maybe over a decade) with no real issues.

I had my annual eye exam and my astigmatism had changed in one eye so I saw the contacts specialist and he said the SofLens 66 was an old product and I should try some of the newer, better breathing lenses. He suggested this one, the Avaira Toric.

Yesterday they felt OK but today I've struggled to see very well (all day at a computer). I'm not sure how to describe the feeling, and it may be related to tired eyes since I didn't sleep well last night, and is a "bad contact day" which I have every now and then.

I'll wear this set tomorrow and bring my last, brand new set of Soflens 66 so that if the issues continue I can switch back.

Frankly it may be a case of if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and the SofLens 66 was working fine for me.

Can I expect a period of adjustment with a new lens type, or should is the initial fit about what I should expect. They are harder to get out of my eyes (lenses may be larger?)

As I was reading over your posting jcatl I was planning on being very wise and starting my reply with "I think this might be a case of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'," but you already went there.

You will probably get used to the Avaira Toric lenses, but if I were you I'd ask if I could go back to the comfy old Soflens 66. Maybe you should keep in mind that if something should happen to them, like they stop production or something, you could work on switching to the Avaira Toric.

Thanks Steve,

I have the luxury of switching back and forth for the next week or so and see if the Avaira will work for me.

Well today's a different day and the Avaira's feel pretty good.

1) I started using name brand multi-purpose cleaner rather than target brand ()
2) I got a decent night's sleep
3) It may just be that my eyes are adjusting

At any rate I'm sticking with the Avaira's if they're this good throughout the day - my vision is very good with them when they feel right in my eyes.
