Default Avaira Uncomfortable

Have you found your Avaira lenses to be uncomfortable? What was the feeling like? Did they itch, burn, feel dry or what? Most importantly, what did you do to make them feel better?

I just received my new Avaira toric lenses today from Lens.com and about 30 minutes after putting them in I started to have cloudy vision. The only time I have had similar cloudiness was after swimming in a chlorinated pool with contacts in. But these are new and I haven't gone in the pool. This is the first time I have used this brand, and first time ordering through the mail. Any help would be most appreciated.

Okay, so your vision was cloudy, but the contacts didn't hurt or itch or anything, did they?

Since I last posted on Tuesday I have had quite an ordeal. I took my contacts out and tried a different pair. The cloudiness persisted, but other than that there were no other problems. I wore them for about 7 hours. At midnight I nodded off for about 45 minutes. When I woke up the contacts were very dry and my vision blurry. I put some re-wetting drops in my eyes before taking my contacts out and going to bed. They felt like they were stuck to my eyeballs, it was difficult to remove them. My eyes were stinging a bit when I went to sleep. I woke up Wednesday morning with my eyes burning and painful. I couldn't open my eyes and I was in agony. I had a family member take me to my eye doctor. Turns out, I scratched my corneas when I took my contacts out. Spent Wednesday blind with patches over both eyes, thankful for percocet to help me get through the pain.

It'sThursday now, and feeling a lot better. I am able to open both eyes, but right eye is still sore and sensitive to light. I have been wearing contacts for nearly 20 years and have never had this problem before, and for the first 10 years I had some very bad habits. I use to sleep with contacts in for weeks at a time. I would wear weekly contacts for months at a time. I wised up about ten years ago, and have been pretty good at following proper usage.
I'm finding it hard to believe that a 45 minute nap would make my contacts so dry that they would take some of my cornea with them when I took them out. Since I was having problems with them soon after putting them in, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the contacts themselves. It was a new box of a brand I've never used. I had never purchased them online before, not sure if they were exposed to extreme temperatures while they were being shipped, or if even that would affect them. It was a new prescription for one eye, not sure if that even matters.

So many questions. If anyone has experienced this before, or has some insight, it would be much appreciated if you replied.

I noticed that you mentioned Avaira Toric lenses. Have you been wearing toric lenses for your entire contact lens career?

I think this is the 2nd or third year wearing Toric lenses. I was looking at my script from last year compared to this year. My right eye didn't change, but my left eye went from:
SPH=-1.75 CYL=-1.75 AXIS=180 BC=8.5 DIA=14.5
To:
SPH=-2.00 CYL=-1.25 AXIS=180 BC=8.5 DIA=14.5

I'm not sure what all of the numbers mean, but it seems like a big change, especially considering my contacts from last script were fine, and I was wearing them up till 2 months ago.

In Avaira Torics, .25 is the smallest change you can make in the sphere measurement. Your cylinder has only changed by .5, and the other parameters haven't changed at all. In your right eye nothing has changed, so I'd say your eyes have been pretty stable.

No, like Zana said, it's not a very big change at all. It's almost the smallest change possible.

Well, what do you think now that you've gotten a few answers to your question? Do you feel better now knowing that the changes in your prescription are actually very small?
