Default Avaira toric recall

Yesterday I received a letter from Costco indicating Coopersvision is recalling Avaira Toric contact lenses. Apparently Coopervision is investigating a number of unexpected wearer reports of hazy vision and discomfort.

For more information check the details of the recall at Coopervision's web site.

First of all, you spelled Coopervision" as "Coppervision" in the URL. That's okay, I started this reply by typing "yo uspelled."

Secondly, I found the Coopervision page and there was nothing about a recall, so I did a Google search for "Avaira toric recall" and found this:

"Avairaź Toric Limited Lot Voluntary Recall

We at CooperVision take great pride in the quality of our products. We initiated a voluntary recall after investigating a small number of unexpected wearer reports of hazy vision and discomfort. The wearer symptoms were temporary in many cases.

This recall involves only a slight percentage of Avaira Toric lenses. To determine if the Avaira Toric lenses you wear are included in this recall, enter the Lot Number found on your product package or blister (as shown in the illustration) into the search box below."

Here's the illustration:

Strangely, if found that page here: http://www.coopervision.com/recall

If anyone thinks they may be affected by the recall, you are encouraged to go to the URL pasted above and enter the Lot Number from your box of contacts.

Thank you for the heads up, robbykennedy.

I suppose it will remain in effect until all the contact lenses from the affected lot number are accounted for. Since they said that the recall affected only "a slight percentage of Avaira Toric lenses," they've probably got the situation under control by now.
