Default Avalon Sunglasses' UV Protection

Here's some stuff I bet you didn't know about UV protection.

1. When shopping for sunglasses, check for the OSHA label with 99 or 100 percent UV protection.
2. Look for sunglasses that are close-fitting. These will prevent UV rays from filtering in.
3. Look for larger lenses or wrap-around sunglasses to prevent light from entering in.
4. Don't be misguided by price -- higher priced sunglasses usually reflect fashion or durability, not UV protection.
5. Dark-colored sunglasses don't necessarily provide better protection. A clear chemical coating applied to the lens is responsible for UV protection, not the lens color.

Thank you very much, HelpMeRhonda. That does help me. The only thing I'd like to add is that some people wear eyeglasses with their sunglasses on top, in which case wraparound sunglasses may not be an option.

That's absolutely right, Unicorn3. If you plan on wearing sunglasses on top of prescription glasses then obviously the wraparound style is not the way to go. Good call.

Default Any More Comments from the Peanut Gallery?

Now, does anyone else see any more mistakes in my list? I won't be offended if you point out a legitimate shortcoming of my list.

Of course, you can tell me if you like it, too.

Okay, I've already been here talking away, but I wanted to say again that I like the list.

K bye.

One more thing. If you wear sunglasses that fit over your eyeglasses, make sure it's a close fit. The frames of the sunglasses should actually touch your face to prevent sunlight from coming in around the edges.

Unless you've got wraparound eyeglasses. I don't think you do because I tried doing a Google search for "wraparound eyeglasses" and Google said "Do you mean 'wraparound sunglasses'?"

Default Wraparound Safety Glasses

I tried a Yahoo! search and it seems that there are prescription wraparound safety glasses to be had. Too bad I couldn't find a picture of someone wearing them. Without a model they don't look particularly wraparound. Check it out.

Well, guess again. I did a search for U2 front man Bono and I found a picture of him wearing what appear to be wraparound glasses.

Leave it to Bono to lead the fashion parade.
