Default What Makes Baby Phat Sunglasses So Popular?

A large part of the popularity surrounding designer sunglasses is a result of celebrity style. Whether we like to admit it or not, celebrity fashion can have a huge influence on the styles of clothing and accessories we choose. Some of today's hottest celebrities like Heidi Montag have become infamous for the sunglasses they wear.

OOOooooo! Heidi Montag!

What does she do again? Is she some kinda TV star or something? The name sounds pretty.

Yeah, I know. I had to look her up online because I've heard the name, but I don't remember where. Apparently she's a singer-slash-recording artist. She's also blonde and pretty.

Here's the $10,000 Question: Does Ms. Montag wear Baby Phat sunglasses?

I don't see any evidence of that on the Internet, herbking.

Default Heidi's Shades

I did a quick search and found a website called "Celebrity Sunglasses Finder." It makes catty comments and shows Heidi Montag wearing Chanel, Oliver Goldsmith, Tom Ford, Barton Perreira (with Chanel decals on her fingernails), Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Ed Hardy, and finally, Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses on her blonde-framed face.

Holy Bling-Bling, Batman! That's a lot of expensive sunglasses! According to the prices listed on the website, that's over $3,000 worth of sunglasses.

Three thousand dollars worth! Of sunglasses! The mind reels.

But no Baby Phat.

Thanks for that report, herbking. You're right. The fact that one person can spend literally thousands of dollars on sunglasses is staggering. I mean, sunglasses are great and all, but I'd like to think that if I had three grand to spend on whatever I wanted, I would donate it to charity or something.
Now, to be fair, according to my Google search, Ms. Montag is a supporter of the Bony Pony Ranch, which is described on its website as "a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Frank Ryan to help underprivileged and at-risk youth excel beyond their current situations.

The Foundation has created an atmosphere where young people can maximize their talents and achieve new goals in life by being exposed to new role models and mentors who can provide a positive influence."

Charity work and an expensive sunglasses collection. I guess there's a stupid amount of money to be made in being a singer, television personality, fashion designer, model, and aspiring actress.

Of course, she probably didn't pay retail like The Rest of Us Mere Mortals, and many of them were probably given to her as a gift.

Sometimes the world is a very strange place. Like the website I saw not long ago that--I kid you not--has pictured of celebrities yawning. Isn't that the dumbest thing you've ever heard.

"Dude, check it out! I found a picture on line of Heidi Montag yawning."

"Where? Let me see!"

That's just stupid. I'd much rather see some celebrities wearing Baby Phat sunglasses.

I found this picture of Amber Rose at a Baby Phat fashion show. Now, I can't tell you for sure what model sunglasses these are, but do you think even a Celebrity Big Shot would arrive at a Baby Phat fashion show and even allow herself to be photographed if she was not wearing Baby Phat sunglasses?

I just like the way they spell "phat" with a "ph." Yo man that's dope and fresh. Peace out, y'all.

She's sort of the anti-Hedi Montag, isn't she?

I was thinking the same thing, Zoey. People will buy these sunglasses because of they way they spell "Phat."
Would you buy sunglasses that were called "Baby Fat"?

You're right; I would have little or no use for sunglasses called "Baby Fat."
