Default Modified Monovision...

I know normally in modified monovision your near eye is corrected with a bifocal or multifocal. Will doing this in your distance eye help with reading a computer screen?

I've never heard of using a bifocal or multifocal lens in monovision. Why not just do that with both eyes? I suppose either a monovision or bifocal lens would help you to read a computer screen.

In modified monovision they can use a multifocal lens in the near eye to help with the 3D vision. As I understand it also helps with with the distance. Thats why I'm asking if the other way around would help with reading a computer. I'm struggling with that now. As for why not both eyes, I'm trying gas perms and and multifocals are pretty expensive. Saving money if I can.
Thanks

Were you asking about changing your prescription or just switching eyes, putting the left lens in the right eye and vice versa?

I'm asking if putting a multifocal lens in the distance eye instead of the near eye would help the near eye see the computer screen better. It might make the distance a little weeker but would it help the near vision?

I guess one way to find out is to give it a try. I don't think it will do any harm. In my estimation, the worst that could happen would be that your computer screen will be even harder to see. Perhaps your eye doctor got your prescription mixed up. That happens sometimes.

I guess it doesn't matter because as I understand it, there's no such thing as a "near" eye and a "far" eye. Whatever eye you put the lens in to let you see things close up, that becomes your "near" eye. So a multifocal lens would probably not be a issue whether it was in your distance eye or your near eye.
