Hello,
I recently gave up in my search for a true multifocal
contact lens. I've tried Air Optics, Proclear and finally Accuvue Oasys. My main problem is my near vision because I've been a hyperobe since age 19. Now at 42 I basically cann't read withought glases. In all of the brands mentioned above my near vision was blurry, not enought magnification (very unconfortable) ironically with all of them the intermediate vision was the sharpest especially with Proclear, and far vision was pretty good too. I had to give up with the Aqua because apparently I'd reached the max ADD. I was then switched to Proclear but my near vision still wasn't acceptable my Dr. then tried to adjust it by adding ADD but then it got horrible at all distances also, I used to wake up with really dry eyes so without making any more adjustment attempts I simply moved on to Accuvue Oasys since it is the newest kind out there. They were by far the most confortable but again the near vision problem. My Dr changed the ADD power to Max but then I saw everything as if I still had my reading
glasses on. She then tried to lower the distance power but then I was back to where I started, bad near vision good intermediate and far. I gave up. It seems that my eyes cann't switch from one prescription to the other even after almost two weeks of wear. Could it be that simply there is too much of a disparity between my distance and near prescriptions? Distance is about +1.25 and ADD is +1.5 Does anyone have any suggestions on a particular brand that may work for me, or should I have given the Proclear one more chance ( I understand that
Biofinity is an improved material over Proclear but still uses the same more gradual ADD system)?
I also read that
Avaira provides superior acuity than
Acuvue Oasys, can anyone corroborate? I would really appreciate any suggestions!!!!!
