Default Correct Placement of Bi Focal Contacts

Obviously if you've got bi focal contact lenses, there has to be a "right" and a "wrong" way to put them in your eyes. You don't want the magnifying part for reading to be up at the top of your eyes. I don't use bi focals, but I'm still curious. How do you know which is the magnifying half of the contact lens that goes on the bottom? Is there some kind of mark that tells you? Now that I think of it, how can you see whatever kind of marking they put on there if you need bi focal contact lenses and you haven't put them in yet?

It depends on the design (concentric, monovision, etc.), and it's complicated. You can search through here because I know I saw a thread about it. It does work, and no, you don't have to put them in any special way. They rotate and move when you blink, and the only trouble I've ever had with them is when my eyes get dry and they don't move the way they are supposed to. Your eyes and brain train together, too. It's pretty cool. If I wasn't at work, I'd search for you and try and link to the thread. The info is out there.

Hi HMBgal.

I just noticed that you come from "coastal California." That's a nice place to be from. Is it warm there in the winter?

Anyway, thanks for addressing my question in a way that's helpful, unlike those who like to answer with unrelated outbursts.

You know who you are . . .
