Reading Glasses or Bifocal / Multi-Focal contact lenses ???
I could use some help reading the fine print. I currently wear SofLens 66 Toric and it would be great if SofLens 66 Toric came in a bifocal / multi-focal version. I have been using over the counter reading glasses and they work great, but it is a pain to keep track of the reading glasses. Any advice? Thanks |

I understand why multi-focal torics would be the ideal solution. Reading glasses aren't always with you when you want them or need them.
Having astigmatism and being presbyopia doesn't leave many options. If your astigmatism isn't too bad, you might be able to get away with non-toric multifocal lenses, or you could try RGP multi-focal lenses. The only multi-focal toric that I am aware of is the UltraVue 2000T Multi-focal Toric, but I understand that they are relatively expensive, but have read that they seem to work well. I have astigmatism in one eye and have had cornea problems, so had very limited options. My optometrist recommended monovision with distance correction in the dominant eye and close correction in the non-dominant eye. I am using Acuvue Advance with Astigmatism for my dominant eye and Acuvue Advance for my non-dominant eye. I have found that I adapted immediately and had no problems adjusting, but understand that this option doesn't work well for everybody, but this also applies to multi-focal lenses. For now monovision works really well for me and will stick with it, until there are more options for multi-focal toric lenses. Colin |

Thank you kindly for the advice. I went ahead and tried the monovision solution and, wouldn't you know it, it worked perfectly. It's nice to be able to leave the ol' reading glasses in their case most of the time. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.
