Default Close up only lens??

I have tried about 4 pairs of bi-focal lenses without success either the distance is worse or the close up vision is not usable. I have been told that I have a small pupil which doesn’t help.
As my distance vision is acceptable without correction (it passes the DMV eye exam) I don’t require a lens for distance correction.
Is it possible to get a lens that just works for reading and does not affect the distance vision?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is called monovision. I tried several brands of mutlifocal contacts and like you experienced poor results. My Doctor put me in monovision which consists of one lens for reading and one lens for distance. The distance lens is usually put on the dominant eye. It takes a few days for your brain to adjust and once it does it works pretty well. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information - I will investigate! For me it could take some getting used to because the eye that will need to be corrected for reading is a lazy eye - in fact extremely lazy I just don't use it! But I guess if that is the only way I can read it might adapt

I tried mono vision for a week and that was all could stand of it. Your head has to be perfectly aligned to see things in focus. I hated it.
