Default Which is Your Favorite Bifocal Design

Do you like the kind of contact lenses where it looks like a target, with the rings of close up and distance vision alternating? Do you find a different style more useful? Which is your favorite?

That's all you're going to say, guru? You realize that pretty much ends this thread unless someone else come along to continue it.

I'm going to speak for guru and say that he likes the Bifocal Contact Lenses that have concentric rings like a target. He likes them a lot.

Didn't see my mouth move at all, did you?

This seems like a pretty simple question. I wonder why no one has responded other than when guru said "Yes, i found different style useful."

Yeah, that question has been there for over two years. Maybe now that it's a thread someone will find it. So let me ask the question again at the bottom of the thread: "Do you like the kind of contact lenses where it looks like a target, with the rings of close up and distance vision alternating? Do you find a different style more useful? Which is your favorite?"

I guess you have the target-style like you said, but then there's also the kind that are like bifocal eyeglasses, right? With the magnifying part on the bottom half?

Those are called "translating bifocal contact lenses."

Says here: "These lenses work much like bifocal eyeglasses because there are two distinct prescription areas, one for far vision and the other for near vision. The lens can have either near or far vision at the bottom or the top, depending on your visual needs. These lenses tend to rotate when you blink, to avoid the lens from rotating the bottom is flattened (truncated) and/or weighted (ballasted), which helps to keep the lens in the correct position." -- http://www.squidoo.com/bifocal_contact_lens_info

Thanks for copying the relevant article for us, Monyfornothin. You saved me a tedious search which probably would have included numerous detours.

Why would anyone need the magnifying part on the top of the lenses?

I don't know, NYGiants. That's a good question. Have you ever tried to look across the room through a magnifying glass?

I have, and everything's all distorted. You can get the same effect from a pair of reading glasses.

Thanks, BobbyD. You saved the thread.

So what was it about the target type of bifocal lenses that you didn't like? What kind of bifocal contact lenses do you use now, if any?
