I am 55. I have been wearing progressive lenses since 1996. I have a mild distance corrction, greater reading correction, no astigmatism. Lat month I tried AirOptix multifocals. The near correction was tolerable, but at a distance things looked seriously blurry. Eg., I could not read the license plate on the car immediately ahead of me.
Four days ago, my optometrist (great guy) switched me to Biofinity multifocals. They are a vast improvement over the AirOptix. Seeing at a distance is better. I can read road signs now, although things are still a bit fuzzy and lights still look they are exploding and have halos around them, expecially at night. To sum it up, it seems like the distance correction is as if I am looking without my glasses, and my near correction is like I am wearing the lenses I had two prescriptions ago. (Near vision is important, I read fine print and work on a computer all day). On the positive side, I have one "sweet spot" about three feet away, which is most apparent when I look in the mirror and notice the crags and wrinkles in my 55-year-old face. I definitely need an exfoliation treatment if not dermabrasion. Interstingly, I noticed that moisture seems to play a role in how well I can see. I was exercising two evenings ago, dripping sweat pouring into my eyes, and the contacts seemed to work better. With that extended background, here are my questions: 1. Will my vision with the Biofinities improve over time? Or is it time to ask for a correction or another brand? Is this as good as it is likely to get? 2. Should I be using eyedrops to keep my eyes moist? |

I'm not an expert on contact lenses or vision, but I've been participating in this forum for quite a while and I've learned a few things. So it's my opinion that you should wait about three or four days and see if your vision gets any better. Sometimes lenses need to be "broken in." Secondly, seeing that sweating into your eyes made them feel better, some eye drops would probably help, too. Please let us know how you're doing, and if this forum has been helpful to you or not. |
