Smile Biofinity 2 Multifocal Contacts

I just left my doctor's office with the new Biofinity 2 lenses. They are awesome at close up range (I am far-sighted) but my distance vision is not as acute. Does this change after awhile? Thanks in advance. Plus any feedback about these lenses is appreciated.

Hi jw2020. Welcome aboard. Did you tell your eye doctor that your distance vision wasn't satisfactory as you were being fitted?

Thanks for the reply. No, he just gave them to me to try on at home. This was my 3rd visit to his office. I have unlimited visits for 2 months. (i've never worn contacts before) He also gave me Acuvue's Oasys for Presbyopia (which I wore the week before). He switched that Acuvue prescription to give me better vision up-close. He said I could try both brands to see which ones I liked better. The "girls in the office" said that most patients prefer the newly released Biofinity 2, so I tried those first.

So then that means you could return to the office every day if you wanted to and get your contact lenses adjusted? Is there a charge for those visits?

Yes, the follow-ups are free up to 2 months from the initial fitting. Theoretically, I could go back everyday, but they told me to give my pupils a few days to get used to the Spherical design of the different powers in each lens. I have a follow-up appt in about 1 1/2 weeks, so that will give me enough time to use the Biofinity2 pair and the Oasys for Presbyopia pair.

Well good. At least they're good for a week or so.

It's been a couple of weeks now, jw2020. How are things going now?

So how is it being a first-time contact lens wearer? Are you enjoying life in general?

After about a month wearing the Biofinity Lenses, I guess I have to discard them, but they have been so comfortable, I hate to do it.

Right now I have the plain Biofinity with a Monovision prescription. Are the Biofinity 2 Lenses exactly the same feeling on your eyes, and are made of the same materials, except they give you the Multifocal advantage?

The Lenses have been even better than I first thought, but last few times I had a difficult time getting the lens out of my right eye. Could this be because it's time to discard it, or does this happen to everyone once in a while? I got real frustrated so walked away and took a 10 minute break then came back to try again to remove it.

I like them so much I hate to throw them away, but maybe this is a clue that I need fresh lenses?

Sorry about your contact removal problem, but I'm glad that you were able to get them out after taking a break. That's something that every contact lens wearer should probably keep in mind.

You'd worn those Biofinity lenses for a month. Was that the time period given to you by your eye doctor? Is it a little bit easier to take your contact lenses out now that you've had some time to practice? Have you learned any "tricks" for taking them out that you can pass on to your friends here at Lens 101?

If those tricks involve taking out your Biofinity contact lenses, even better.

I finally learned to get my contacts out easily. My doctor demonstrated the technique by taking his own contacts out 3 times in a row. There is a video online someplace which shows the same technique.

I'm trying to find the video again so I can post the link.

You didn't know that there was a brand of contact lenses called "Biofinity 2"? Is that what you said?
I did a search for a picture of the box, but I couldn't find one. Just Biofinity and Biofinity Toric.

I think someone may have gotten mixed up, because I couldn't find any mention of "Biofinity 2" lenses--except here, of course. This thread came up in a Google search.
