Well, after being switched to a trial of
Biofinity from
Acuvue Oasys, I think I like the Oasys better. Mainly because I could SEE better.
The whole monovision thing is harder for me with the Biofinity. In fact I still had an extra Acuvue Lens, after I started the Biofinity trial, and one night, after I removed the right Biofinity lens, just to test it, I put the
Acuvue Oasys Lens that I had which was extra into my right eye. Immediately things were clearer. Maybe the prescription was different. I didn't ask but did report it to the doc's office.
Dr. Joe called me last Friday and told me that when I was in his office in November 2010, he put
contacts into my eyes so I could see well enough close up to choose frames for my
glasses.. I asked him if they were same prescription as the monovision ones I'm wearing now, He said "No, I had you in Multifocals"
Immediately I was glad to hear this since it will be an improvement for me. When he put those lenses in my eyes last November I could not believe how clear everything looked and how little effort it took to adjust to them.. I used them for one hour to choose frames, and another little while just to browse in their little optical shop.
When the EyeDoctor was ready to leave for the North Office, I was still wearing the Contacts, and he said to me:
"Well I think I need to take those Lenses out of your eyes before I leave"
I thought to myself "OH NO! I FORGOT anything was in my eye, and my vision was just 'cured'" sort of!" because I so very much liked the comfort and the drastically improved vision I had been enjoying for the time I was wearing them. ( Was using only 4 different pairs of reader glasses from the drugstore for different jobs before that day, cause my glasses got damaged 4 years earlier) That day I vowed I would be back to get Contacts, before too long.
So now, he will send me yet another set to try, Multifocal I hope like I had that day in November instead of Monovision. The other Eye Doc who was at my initial fitting suggested Monovision and I went along with it, knowing no other kind of lenses were available a few weeks ago.
So in conclusion (so far):
For ease of handling, for endurance through the month, for comfort and for telling WHICH SIDE IS RIGHT to go into my eye, I think the Biofinity Lens are GREAT. Also they last a whole month, and I know nothing about pricing yet but this might also have its advantages.
For slightly moister comfort, and a gentler fit on my eye, and better vision in my right eye, I liked the Acuvue Oasys.
The HydraGlyde worked well with both, and I changed the solution every day to make sure they stayed clean.
But it's not over till it's over. Thanks to all here who have posted all the info on this site.
