Default Biofinity = Clarity?

Hi, All!

I am new to contacts. I have been wearing them for 2 weeks now. My hope is that I can wear contacts and stop the endless search for my glasses around the house! I was wearing monovision Air Optix Aqua contacts, but my doctor switched me to monovision Biofinity yesterday because my eyes weren't getting enough oxygen.

In discussing my vision with my doctor, she brought some information to light for me. She said that I will never see clearly with any contacts. She said that if I want to see clearly, I need to wear glasses. She said that people just wear contacts out of convenience not because they sharpen your vision. I thought that maybe she just meant that monovision didn't sharpen your eyesight. So, I asked if it would be better for me to be in bifocal contacts. Again, she said that no contacts will give me perfectly clear vision. If I want to see things crisply..is that a word?...I need to wear my glasses instead.

I have never heard this before. Why would millions of people wear contacts if you can't see clearly? Is she right or will Biofinity contacts prove her wrong? Do I just need a new doctor who better understands contacts? I'd love to know what you think!

WRONG.....Both lenses come in a multifocal design which are excellent...and yes u can get crystal clear vision with contact lenses.....if you are of a higher plus correction than what is available there are other choices as well....
Just so ya know!!!

That's good to know, happyrgplenswearer. It it true that you can see with crystal clarity whether you're wearing soft lenses or RGP?

Thanks for the info happyrgplensewearer. I am still working on it. My optomistrist put me in new lenses...Acuvue TruEyes..because the Biofinity one were making my eyes bloodshot and I still wasn't fully adjusting to them. Bummer.

Yeah, bloodshot eyes are a sure sign that somethings not right with your contacts. I hope the TruEyes work out for you and that you'll come back and tell us how it's going.

My eye doctor told me the same thing when she suggested contacts. I do get really clear vision with the Biofinity multi-focals (now that we have figured out the ideal Rx for each eye), but I find that it really isn't the same kind of clear vision I got from my glasses...if that makes any sense. But it's still good clear vision.

My doctor only put me in contacts because the progressive bi-focals didn't work for me. If I didn't get clear vision from the contacts, I wouldn't wear them. *lol* Personally, I don't find contact lenses very convenient.

I do admit that night time driving is not very good because of the way the multifocal lenses are made, but even that gets better over time because it takes awhile for the eyes to get used to it.

Not sure this helps, but I understand what you mean by what your doctor said, because mine said something similar. But at the end of the day, these are working for me and I think the vision I have is very nice and clear to the point that I forget I am wearing them.

That sounds like a "win" to me, sac78.
