Default Biofinity - Blood Shot Eyes

Good Morning,

I hope someone can help me or offer me some advice. I have recently changed from wearing Daysoft lenses to Biofinity Monthlies. I did this because I wear lenses all day and realised I needed to let more oxygen through to my eye.

I have been wearing Biofinity for a month now and have developed incredibly bloodshot eyes. I never had a problem with bloodshot eyes while wearing daysoft lenses.

Does anyone know why I have developed this? Could it be the solution that I am using or is it related to the contacts? I expected to have nice bright white eyes when changing to Biofinity! The solution I use is Opti-free Replenish.

Many Thanks
Debs

Hi Debs.

It's possible that you're reacting to a contact lens and solution combo. There's another thread here in Lens 101 about what solutions to use with Biofinity lenses, and there are quite a few options. It lists Opti-Free Replenish as one of them, but it also suggests Clear Care, Opti-free Express, Renu Fresh, Complete MPS, Easy Rub and Aquify. I hope one of those is to your liking.

I would suggest that you use ClearCare....that solution resolved some issues I had with contact lenses.

How fast did your eyes go red? Was it within a day or two, or did it take more than a week? It's possibly just a matter of wearing contact lenses for more than a day. It's something you're not used to yet.

Yeah. What more could you ask for? It looks like you can save 24 bucks off the retail price there, too.

Default Red eye

I have developed the same problem, but the eyes go a little red in about two hours. After I remove them they get really blood shot and light sensitive. I wait several weeks to clear then I try with new set of contacts and a new solution. Could I be allergic to the material the contact is made from?

Agreed........i only recommend clearcare because lipid deposits form readily on silicone hydrogels and clearcare keeps these types of lenses cleaner.
