Default Redness in eyes caused by contact lenses?

I have been using the same brand contact lenses for the last 3-4 years and only wear them 2-3 times a week. As of a few weeks ago I started getting redness around both my eyes while my contacts were in 3-6 hours into wearing them. It most often starts with a red ring around my pupils, then progresses throughout my eyes. I'll remove my contacts, but the redness remains and sometimes gets more red while contacts are out. There are times when I've applied Clear Eyes or Visine which have no effect on redness. I've taken a 2 week break from using contacts, but problem still occurs. I've seen an opthamologist, who tells me it could be an allergic reaction to my specific brand or solution, which are Biomedics Toric. What puzzles me is I've been using the same brand and solution for the last 2 years with no problems until recently. (*note: the opthamologist did not seem to care much at all when examining me, 10 minute visit! real a$$hole). I plan to see another doctor soon for a 2nd opinion. Has anyone experienced a similar reaction? If so, could you inform me of your experience. Thank You!

Not like yours but I have only been wearing contacts for about 7 months now. I do get some faint redness after long periods of use, but not to the extent you get. Try changing your lens solution. I use RepleniSH (Opti-free) it is for silicone hydrogel and soft contact lenses. I love it, it retains moisture and its a multi-purpose disinfecting solution. I use Accuvue Advanced Oasys w/hydroclear. My doctor told me the solution she recommended has not had ANY bad raps from medical professionals and has no irritating or harmful ingredients like most of the other solutions out there or had recent issues with.
I hope this helps. worth a try when it comes to eyes. And just a side note: It is allergy season, and if you've never had allergies in the past, doesn't mean you can't develop any at any age at any time. Been there, had them at one point or another.
