Biomedics 55 is so much better than Acuvue Oasis. I was on Acuvue for 3 years and switched to Biomedics 55. I was surprised that the cheaper Biomedics lens are much more comfortable, cause less dry eye, and extremely clear!

Thank you for that first-person account ke.cheng. This is the Biomedics 55 Premier section. Is that the kind you use, or just the "regular" Biomedics 55?

Cheaper and more comfortable. It doesn't get any better than that.

I have only tried a trial pair of Acuvue 2 lenses and since I have astigmatism my vision pretty much was not worth the effort to bother with those lenses although I did notice that my eyes dried out a lot while wearing them. My doctor then decided to try the Biomedics 55 Premier lenses since he had other patients with astigmatism receive great vision with them. The first week was a bit of a ride since I had gotten used to the acuvue lenses, so I felt weird for the first week but the contacts felt great. My vision was clear and I had no issues with the lenses after the trial week was over and my vision was 20/15 during my final check up with these lenses which was pretty awesome since I could only get 20/20 with my glasses and 20/40 with the acuvue pair. So yeah awesome contacts for a real cheap price of 0 dollars with insurance for me since they cover them completely!!

yeah got to love insurance, they cover acuvue, acuvue 2, and Acuvue Advance lenses as well but my brother has the acuvue 2 lenses and he just recently stopped wearing them since they began to bother him after a few hours and mind you he has been wearing them for two years so I don't know I may try the Avaira lenses from coopervision but I will stick with the 55 premier for now!

That's really cool, ShadowFoxBiH. If you try the Avaira contact lenses I hope you come back and tell us what you think. This forum could use more posts like that.

Okay, so enjoy your 55 Premier lenses in the mean time. How many hours a day do you generally wear them?

Generally I follow the guidelines laid out by my optometrist 12 to 14 max, although I average between 10 and 12 usually I only hit the 14 mark once.

That sounds like a pretty good plan, ShadowFoxbiH. Thanks for joining us.

Thanks ftngirsh, I have a whole list of guidelines to follow from the optometrist and I do my best to follow them since I tend to like being able to see. The risk of doing something stupid is not worth my vision, specifically sleeping in contact lenses even though the lenses I have can be worn overnight according to the insert my doctor does not recommend that at all in any shape or form and after reading some of the posts from doc g I can see why!

It's always a good idea to follow the instructions your doctor gives you, face-to-face, rather than the general instructions given on an impersonal forum such as this.

Not that this is a bad place to learn about taking care of your eyes, it's just not the best source for individualized care.
