Hi All,
I have been wearing bifocal glasses since 1994 and now I'm getting curious about contact lenses. So my search begins. Trish |

Welcome aboard Trish. I hope you can find some helpful information here. What made you decide to research hybrid lenses?
|

Hybrids would include several different lenses. Some are an RGP center with a soft covering and 'skirt'. The other would be an RGP that starts off like a regulae RGP, but when it is placed in a liquid solution, the outside of the lens changes to a thin gel-like surface. I wear one of the later due to very dry eyes. Google-ONSI 56 RGP

Wow, cool. So you start with a lens that's rigid and hard, soak it in conditioning solution overnight and in the morning the lenses have a soft outside edge while the center stays hard?

But that is more of an adaptation issue. I am and ecp and it took a month and half for my dry sensitive eyes to go thru the full adaptation process. It takes 3 weeks up to a month or so to full have the sensation go away completely. |

Well, Trish you got about ten replies to the question. What do you think? Are you going to try hybrid contacts?

However they require extensive knowledge to fit.....they can end up being too tight or too loose. My suggestion for you trish is to def go to a eye care pro to get these lenses. |
|

they can be ordered on line...but only if they been fitted on the patient and the prescription is working.
Never under any circumstance order lenses to "try" out or otherwise..... bad news and yer asking for trouble! |
|
|||
|
So even if yo order on line, you still need to see a doctor for the prescription and the fitting, right?

Never tried hybrid lenses myself, but I'm glad you signed up for the forum. How's it going?

It's my understanding that to do otherwise would be illegal. At least the prescription part. I don't know about the fitting.
