When did you first start wearing Boston EO contact lenses? Have you worn them continuously since then?

Hi all, this is my first post. I was searching a query about RGPs and Visine when I stumbled upon your forum...wow, there really is a forum for everything!
I've been wearing Boston EO for 25 years now and have never tried anything else. Getting used to them was a bit long (I felt like I had put dinner plates on my eyes) but after the first week to 10 days, it was all good...been wearing them ever since. |

So in the mid 80's you were brave enough to try RGP lenses that were probably pretty new. How come you never went with the soft lenses? Would you ever try soft disposable contact lenses or would you prefer to not fix that which is not broken? |

I was 15 and I trusted my eye doctor...that simple, no courage required. He said that my eyes were deteriorating quickly and that the rigid lenses were the way to keep them from getting too weak. I never tried anything else. Anytime I asked about disposables, I was told "not for me". Even glasses were "not recommended" because my eyes would continue to deteriorate. 25 years later, my rx is still within .5 of the original -5... And considering my father's rx is around -16, I think RGPs are right for me. |

Did your eye doctor tell you why your eyes were "deteriorating quickly" at age 15? Did he mean that your eyes were physically breaking down from some kind of disease or something, or did he mean that your vision was changing quickly, which is common in teenagers? |

Aren't you curious as to why your doctor said that disposable contact lenses were "not for you"? Your vision continues to deteriorate, so why are rigid lenses better? Wouldn't it be easier to change the prescription if you only wear your contacts for a day or a week? I'm not trying to interrogate you, I'm just curious. |
