Default Are Boston EO Contact Lenses Better in the Long Run?

I've heard that Boston EO is a favorite among many who wear RGP contact lenses. Someone pointed out to me that while soft contact lenses may be more comfortable than RGP's at first, in the long run, gas permeable contacts like the Boston EO come out ahead because they let more oxygen into the eye and the don't react to the outside environment as much as soft contacts.

The optics are much crisper through RGPs than soft lenses any day, the only advantage soft lenses have is that they are more comfortable and to the fitter they are easy to fit.

Another advantage of RGPs is that they last much longer, allow more oxygen to the eye, and are generally better than soft lenses.

It really sounds like RGP's are the way to go. Still I think a lot of people are afraid to try them because they're afraid of the discomfort. Are there a lot of people who try RGP's and then switch to soft contacts because they're so incredibly uncomfortable? I've never tried them myself, because, um, I'm afraid of the discomfort but logically, for as long as RGP's have been around, I would think they probably feel pretty good by now.

I'm with you Banditcat. The idea of putting something rigid in my eyes just doesn't appeal to me, but that's just a mental block. I bet if I gathered up my courage and gave them a try, I'd probably like them, but there's that first step . . .
