Default Do You Ever Get Used to Boston EO Contact Lenses?

Do you ever get to the point that you don't feel the Boston EO rigid contact lenses any more? How long will that take?

After building up my wear time, I was told to start with 6hr then 8 then 12 and now I wear them 14 or 15 hrs . So to answer you question about 4 or 5days I was wearing them with no problem. I work 12 hr shifts ( days and overnites) and once and a while a may put a few comfort drops in if my eyes get a bit dry.

Four or five days. That's great. Thanks. It's good to know that Boston EO customers won't be suffering for weeks.

Thanks Barry. So how was that first day? Was it a long six hours? Did you make it that far?

My first few days were horrible. I couldn't wait to get them off. After wearing them for a week and a few days, I absolutely love them! You just got to give it time.

Wow. You went from "horrible" to "I absolutely love them!" in less than two weeks.

For those of you struggling with your Boston contact lenses, hang in there. Love is only a few days away.

That's really good to know, Zoey and ridlas. See everybody? Rigid gas perm lenses really can be comfortable.

No kidding. I don't think I'd ever put something in my eye where the "r" stood for "rigid," but if for some reason I have to, this thread will help me feel better I think.

It took me about a week to 10 days to get used to the "I just put a dinner plate on my eye" feeling. 25 years later I still love them.

Fantastic. Would you be willing to look around this site and become one of our resident experts on RGP contact lenses? What do you say?

Fabulous. Maybe you can talk to brennicksmom and help her to help her son face his contact lens fitting bravely.

Thank you for the posting. It was very descriptive. I'm glad you got 25 years of satisfaction out of those contacts.

Default Yes, you get used to them!

I wore Boston EOs for 4 years and, yes, you get used to them. It took me about a week to finally get comfortable with them.

My issue with RGPs was not the comfort factor. Once you get used to them, they are quite comfortable and they provide very crisp vision for those of us with astigmatism!

My issue was with dust. Because RGPs have a tear layer between your eye and the lense, it's very easy for dust to get trapped between that layer and cause discomfort. Because I live in a windy area (Chicago!), it's hard to avoid this happening. I especially noticed this when driving with the A/C on in my car. I tried wearing wrap-style sunglasses to help avoid this, but I still had issues.

Unfortunately, I discontinued wearing RGPs because I couldn't take the dust issues and constant use of eye drops to flush the dust out. It's a shame because I really liked my RGPs. They were so easy to take care of and the cleaning solution is much less expensive than for soft lenses.

I switched back to glasses in 2008, but just got a trial pair of Biofinity Toric soft lenses on Monday. They're the best soft contacts I've ever used. I can see very well. Not as good as the RGPs, but well enough that it's worth wearing them instead of glasses.

Good luck with your Boston EOs, they're great lenses!

Thank you for that contact lens review. It's always best on a forum like this when you can relate personal experience. Are you going to keep wearing the Biofinity Toric lenses?

I just got the Biofinity lenses on Monday and, so far, I love them. If I could go back to RGPs, I would. But this is the next best option. I've never been able to see well in soft torics, so I was very surprised at how well they work. I'm far-sighted with astigmatism, which can be a tricky fit for contacts.

Hi SopranoKris. I'm from Chicago too. It's a good place to live--except in the winter.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge of RGP and soft lenses with us. I think you'll be able to help a lot of people around here.

Didn't Chicago just get, like, two feet of snow or something?

Anyway, I'm glad you like those Biofinity lenses. Have you thought about buying your contacts from Lens.com, the sponsor of this page?
