Default Are Boston ES Contacts Safe in the Sauna?

Should you take out your contacts when you're headed for the sauna? Will the heat and moisture damage them, even if they're rigid?

Here is an answer to your question:

"Two special benefits make contact lenses ideal for the sauna: they do not "steam up" in humid conditions or as a result of temperature fluctuations. They always remain at body temperature. And when you are cooling down in the pool afterwards, the same applies as for "Swimming" and "Diving"."

This answer and a few others regarding contact lenses can be found by following this link:

Very cool, SpiritFeather. This post was very helpful, but I'm too lazy to follow the link. I'll take your word for it that contact lenses are "ideal for the sauna."

Leonardo da Vinci is credited with describing and sketching the first ideas for contact lenses in 1508[citation needed], but it was more than 300 years later before contact lenses were actually fabricated and worn on the eye. I looked at the video at that website, but I didn't see anything about contact lenses. You do know this is a contact lens/sunglasses/eyeglasses forum, right? It's not here to advertise random websites.

Oh yeah? Saunas don't get hot enough to melt contact lenses do they? Maybe they'll absorb moisture and swell up so that they're hard to get out. Can you be more specific about the damage contacts may sustain in a sauna? Lens 101 members want to know.

So, how much longer do we wait? Does anyone here wait a certain period of time for a reply before they give up?
