I did break RXD lenses by pressing too hard while cleaning them.
The RXD lenses usually broke inhalf, sometimes into three pieces.

You must have been pressing pretty hard!

I thought it didn't require any pressure to clean the lenses. You are just moving the cleaner around to get the bacteria and grime to loosen a bit.

Are there little cleaning machines, similar to machines used to clean jewelry, for this type of lens?

Yes, there are machines that will clean your contact lenses. Most of the ones I am familiar with do so with ultrasonic waves. Check around here in Lens 101. I'm sure I've seen some posts about them here. Check "General contact lens Care and Questions" and/or "General Eye Health."

I managed to step on a lens and break it. I actually had to sweep up the pieces.

Thank you for your replies everyone.

DianeR, did you find the cleaning machine you were looking for?

Tigger, I'm sorry to hear that you stepped on your contact lens. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Rheologyservice, I hope you've learned your lesson and you're cleaning more gently now. It sounds like you regularly break lenses while cleaning them when you say they "usually" break into two or three pieces. If broken contacts lenses are not unusual, you may need to modify your technique . . .
