Default How Long Do You Wear Boston XO2?

I hear that you can wear these gas permeable contact lenses for quite a long while. As long as a year in some cases. What about you? Have you ever worn your Boston XO2 contacts for a whole year? How often do you clean them?

If you are talking about continuos wear then I wear mine up to 14 hours a day with no staining issues - i.e. my eyes are not going red.

YOU CANNOT SLEEP IN X02s

In terms of replacement of materials my optician tells me X)2 might not last as long as a mteril with lower DK number as the material is notas strong, so perhpas 10-12 months whereas standard DK materials you might 16 months.

However , you should always get a 6 month check up or if you expeirence any problems as some times you might have sctrached the lense etc. without realising it so you might need to replace the lense. However, some opticians have insurance policies which mean you only pay 50% of the cost on replacement lenses.

I hope this helps

Thank you Spilsburt, that was some very helpful information.

Who here has been inspired by Spilsburt's example?

Default not approved for extended wear!

Although these lenses are not approved for extended wear the material does fall into the hyper dk category.

I am currently wearing boxton xo2's as my daily preferred lens to wear due to dry eyes and mild blepharitis. However I do wear soft contact lenses (silicone hydrogels Air Optix Aqua) for whenever I play sports or working out.

I have worn on occasion over night wear of my boston x02's and they are fine but i do find this material does tend to attract more lipid deposits eventhough the material has a great wetting angle. Usually by mid day the next day they are dirty if I do wear them as an over night lens.

I can wear boston xo2's quite late into the evening with no discomfort issues! This lens is very comfortable rgp lens and I would recommend to everyone that is wearing rgp's!

The also work great coupled with boston advance care solutions!

Do you mind if I ask if that blepharitis is related to contact lens wear?

anterior blepharitis was caused in my case by a few factors!

type 2 diabetic ( diabetics have dry eyes)
17 cycles of chemo for cancer treatment ( dried eyes right out)

tear film instability which made my eyes deposit alot of protein and lipids!

i use Opticrom and Patanol eye meds 1 hour prior to putting my RGP"S in and boston XO2 with the boston advance care system has put the blepharitis in check.

I also use lid cleaning wipes on the margin of my eyelids before bed every night.

When I workout or playing contact sports I wear Cibavision air optix aqua part time with B and L biotrue solution as RGP's tend to pop out when im working out!

Wow, I don't often see "chemo" and "playing contact sports" together.

Tell me about those lid cleaning wipes. That sounds like it would be very refreshing. I don't like sticking my face in the shower spray because I like taking very hot showers but those wipes sound like a good alternative.

Are there special ingredients in these wipes or are they just re-packaged Wet Ones?

the cleanser in these sort of products are sort of designed like contact lens cleaning solutions SO to SPEAK!

it doesnt irritate the eyes and if u do get into your eyes will not harm contact lenses by the residue left in the eyes!

Do you know specifically what these wipes are made of, luvbostonxo2? Specifically, what kind of cleaners are in them? I'm not too concerned with the material the wipes are made of, but the stuff that actually cleans.

That's strange. I thought that was required by law or something.

It took a little bit of digging, but I found a list of ingredients for Lid Care by Novartis:

Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate; Sodium Trideceth Sulfate; Hexylene Glycol; PEG 20; Sorbitan Monolaurate; Propylene Glycol; Boric Acid; Sodium Borate; Disodium Edetate; Polyaminoproyl Biguanide.

Now you know.

yes i use lid care on occasion when I can feel blepharitis flaring up....It doesn't irritate eyes because you cant help not to get the cleaning solution in your eyes when your cleansing your lid edges.

Don't you mean you can't help getting it in your eyes? In other words, it does get in your eyes, doesn't it?

I guess that Canadians just buy good stuff even in plain packaging while us Americans need everything to look fancy.
