Default Cibasoft Visitint for First Time Contact Lens Wearers

CibaSoft's web site promotes their Visitint contacts as being a good choice for first-time contact lens wearers. Do you agree with the marketing department? Are these long-lasting but expensive contact lenses recommended for people who have never worn contact lenses before?

Discuss.

Hi 3scompany.

Thanks, now I've got that song in my head! "Come and knock on our door . . ."

Anyway, I don't wear vial contacts so I can't tell you from experience, but apparently the CibaSoft Visitint contacts are a bit thicker than most vial contacts, so they're easier to hold and won't rip as easily. This is a good thing for newbies handling expensive yearly contact lenses.

Hope that helps!

That sounds pretty reasonable to me, except that I would think that first-time contact lens wearers would want to try something really thin for comfort, even at the expense of something thick with the strength to resist tearing.

Tell me more, danova. What makes you say that CibaSoft Vistint contact lenses are good for beginners?

Do you have an 80's song in your head?

Maybe this will help:

I made it through the wilderness.
Somehow I made it through.
Didn't know how lost I was
Until I found you . . .

Bah! Now I've got that song in my head.

It keeps combining with that Weird Al Yankovic song . . .

Excellent. Now, I have a special message for everyone reading this post from the Marketing Department of CibaSoft. Just watch the pretty lady with the heart locket. Watch the pretty locket swing. Back and forth. Back and forth. You are feeling more and more relaxed.

Now repeat after me: I agree with the marketing department.

The marketing department is my friend.

The marketing department would never lie to me.

Good. When I snap my fingers, you will remember nothing except the statements you repeated.

*Snap*

Thanks for reading my post.

And now a word from the Marketing Department . . .

Do you realize that this thread contains pictures of Weird Al Yankovic and Obi-Wan Kenobi? That's quite a range.

I know. It's so much fun coming up with cute comments and then adding pictures to kind of drive the comedic point home. Who says a website about contact lenses has to be boring?

So which is better for a beginner? Thick and strong, or thin and comfortable?

I would go with thin and comfortable. Just think of how much time you'll spend handling the contact lenses compared to how much time you'll spend wearing them.

Yes, good point. Thick lenses are best for handling, and thin are best for wearing. Since they touch your eyes more than they touch your fingers, I think thin is better.

I think I can live with that. Thin lenses may tear more easily, but I don't think it will take a long time to get used to handling the contacts gently.

Super, so thin is in. Do we have any differing opinions on this matter?

So tell me, thin contact lens wearers, is it easy to learn how to handle them safely?

It depends on who's doing the learning, but I suppose most people pick it up pretty quickly. How long did it take you, Lens 101 member?

That's a good open-ended question that no one seems to have taken you up on, R2D2. We'll just have to wait some more.
