Is anyone as yet making color or tinted sillicone contact lenses? I ask because I love my sillicone lenses and have trouble adjusting to the convention soft, tinted lenses.
The logical question is this: Are any of the sillicone lens manufacturers making colored or tinted lenses? Thanks. Buffalo Bob |

Since I'm not an eye doctor I had to look this up on line, but I didn't find any brands of silicone hydrogel contact lenses that will change the color of your eyes. Here's a listing of all the silicone hydrogel contact lenses offered by Lens.com: http://www.lens.com/contact-lenses/department1249.asp Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. |

Thanks. Maybe there are some under development. I have a lot of color lenses at home. But I've really become spoiled by the Pure Vision brand such that when I put the conventional lenses in my eyes, I don't see as well even though they are the identical prescription. I wish I knew why.

I was just reading in another thread here on Lens 101 that some (all?) contact lenses trap a layer of tears between themselves and the cornea, and that tear film also helps to focus the light coming into your eyes. Maybe that's why you don't see as well with the other lenses. |

I think what Steuhrob was trying to say is that you may not be able to see as well with what you call "conventional" contact lenses because they do not form that tear later like the PureVision lenses. I don't know if that's true but if it is, it may explain why you see better with the PureVision contacts. |

The corrective power difference is startling. The prescription is identical. For example, I occasionally wear glasses at the end of the day or if I've been reading a lot. I rarely need them with the silicone lenses but every now and then, I do. But when I switch to the conventional lenses, I need the glasses all the time not only for up-close reading but for proper distant vision. Interesting, huh?

I love the "Pure Vision" lenses. I am using the multi-focal variety right now. I just wish they made them in various colors. I previously wore the Dura Soft colored lenses. Durasoft was sold to another company and its availability seems somewhat limited and its price seem to have gone up. So, I have bee looking for silicone lenses that are also tinted.
