Default We Don't Discriminate

Hi Kamille206, nice to have you on board.

Thanks for posting your pictures. If you look around this site, you will find that only a small percentage of the posts contain pictures. It seems that Lens 101 members of all colors are a little shy about posting pictures, and I'm sure some people would like to, but they're not sure how.

You will also see quite a few posts that say "How about posting a picture of your self with your contact lenses" with either no reply or a negative. So I don't think it's a color or a racial thing, it's a people thing.

Meanwhile, there are a few people who have pictures of themselves and their dark skin. Try these:

http://www.lens101.com/color-contact-lenses/83896-pics-waicon-trikolor-grey-vs-waicon-basic-grey-ondark-eyes.html (He's got a ton of pictures.)

What do you think?

that was helpful thanks, lol i guess ppl are shy about posting pictures, but the only reason I do it is to help other people out that want a visualization to help them out in choosing what contacts to get or how certain color contacts look on different people. I know it takes me forever just to find somebody with a similar skin tone post a picture with some brand of contacts and it always helps me out, because I dont want to waste my money on contacts totally dont suit me.

Looks nice, Loveme. I like the hat. The green contacts look good, too. They cover your brown eyes well. In general, it's a good look--except for the red pupils.

Maybe next time you have a picture taken (I hope there will be more pictures.) you can see if the camera has a setting to reduce that "red eye" effect, or maybe edit the picture on computer after it's taken.

Yes, those contacts look good on you, loveme. I don't suppose you'd like to post a picture of your whole face so we can get the Big Picture? I like to see colored contact lenses along with the person's face so I can get an idea what they'd look like if I met them in a casual setting.

"Esmeralda and Mel." Sounds like a Vegas act.

What color are "Esmeralda" and "Mel"? Most contact lenses have colors that are easy to figure out, like Aqua, Evergreen, Honey and Brilliant Blue. "Esmeralda" and "Mel" don't tell me anything about the color. "Mel" could mean "melon green" or brown, which is the color of the melanin in your skin.

I bet it's neither one.

Default Your Eyes Are Like Two Olives

With the green contacts and the red pupils, your eyes remind me of olives.

I mean that in the nicest way, of course.

Perhaps I should write love poems.

I thought someone explained earlier that MEL was honey (in Portugese - Brazil). So the Mel would be more light brown than Melon green

Look what I found at http://www.brainyquote.com:

Honey Translations

honey in Afrikaans is heuning
honey in Danish is honning
honey in Dutch is honing
honey in Finnish is hunaja
honey in French is miel
honey in German is Honig
honey in Italian is miele
honey in Latin is mel mellis
honey in Norwegian is honning
honey in Portuguese is mel
honey in Spanish is miel

You may just be right, Knotlob. Wouldn't be the first time.

This is too confusing. Just buy your contacts from Lens.com. They don't sell soloticas, as far as I know, but at least you know what color you're getting.

In this picture, the Mels look brown:

Here, they look green:

Both eyes have the same color contact lens in them--Solotica Mels.

I guess that shows how natural they can look in certain people's eyes.

I like those contacts on you. The limbal rings around the edges of the irises really makes them stand out.
Make your self at home, Nisha. Feel free to ask questions and to answer them, too. Nice to have you here.

Hi Nisha. Welcome.

So, just to be clear, there was nothing wrong with your FreshLook ColorBlends, they were just getting a little stale, right? You just wanted a change just to be different, correct?

Hey, "Twilight" is a very popular show!

Sorry. I don't mean to make fun of you. I'm sorry you are disappointed in your Hidrocharme contacts. I hope you're able to get your money back. Are they vial contacts where you only get one pair? If so, I don't think there's anything you can do besides learn from this experience.

Might I suggest you try Lens.com? Just click the invitingly large red button on the top or the bottom of this page. Their prices are much better than the Hidrocharme lenses and if you're not satisfied, you can return the sealed package for a refund.
Maybe if you decide to try vial contact lenses, you can just try one lens first, to do a "vampire check."
Speaking of checking, look around Lens 101 at the pictures people have posted of themselves wearing their contacts. That will give you a better idea how they look on real people, although I have to say, the members of Lens 101 are a good looking bunch.

Please let us know how this works out for you and if there's anything else we can do for you.

Yes, it seems that people are shy about posting pictures of themselves. This seems strange to me. They buy these contact lenses to give themselves a new look, but they don't want people to see their new look! What's up with that?

I guess some people need a little time to be sure their new look works, but what better way to find that out than by getting some feedback, right?

Come on everybody! Post those pictures!

Hi mcmlxxxvii (Is that 1987?),

Welcome to Lens 101. Thanks for posting those pictures. You've got a pretty smile and pretty eyes. I like that color.

What color is "mel" anyway? Your eyes look gray in the pictures, but I've heard that "mel" could be green as in "melon," or brown as in "melanin," the pigment in your skin that makes you tan.

Anyway, those contacts are nice. Good purchase.

Indoors they appear more grey (Those pictures are indoors with flash.) or a light brown. In direct sunlight they are a brighter green, more noticeable, and blend into my natural dark brown.
I think you might have to post some more pictures under various lighting conditions so we can see all those color variations. What do you think?

Such beautiful eyes, mcmlxxxvii. I like the eye shadow. The Soloticas look good too.

So mcmlxxxvii means 1987, huh. Don't tell me that's the year you were born. If you tell me that I will feel very old because that's the year I graduated from high school.

Uh oh. Now see what you've done? We'll have to get FirstDown a cane and a hearing aid, now. No more football for him.

Maybe some bifocal contact lenses, too, huh? What do you think?

Come on everybody! Post those pictures!

Default Pure Hazel on dark eyes

Picture of Pure Hazel, Fresh look Cover Blend on my very dark brown eyes.

I have got comments from others that they look very natural but I won't ever get them again because my sight was very blurry with these.

I guess that's what's really important, isn't it? Are you reading this, contact lens manufacturers and marketers? Pretty contact lenses are not going to work if they're not comfortable.

Those green eyes look beautiful, and the eye makeup really makes them look even better. Thanks for the pictures.

Default Solotica Hidrocor Mel

Hirdrocor Mel makes my brown eyes look a bit hazel, which is perfect! And they dont look too unrealistic either.

That's a nice color, but I think a sharper picture might be better. With some cameras it's hard to get in that close without the picture getting fuzzy, though.

Here's to a better look at Gorluff's eye with a colored contact lens in place. Maybe we'll even get to see both eyes.

Nice color, definitely, but like Building63, I'd like to see a little more detail in the lenses.
