Default Solotica for light eyes (PLEASE HELP)

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum, and I'm looking for help with some contact lenses! I have pretty light eyes. They are green, blue, grey... depending on lighting and clothes I'm wearing and also whether or not my skin is tanned. In general though they are green. I know a lot of you might tell me I'm not welcome here, because I've seen some other posts that weren't as nice to people with lighter eyes looking for contacts. I am specifically looking for Solotica contacts as they are the most natural unless someone can tell me of ones that are more natural. I have purchased the Hidrocor Mels before but they made my eyes look freakishly yellow and very unnatural, they did not look the beautiful green that they look on people with brown/dark brown eyes. The color that they look on dark brown eyes, vivid celery/lime green, is the color I am looking for. I am looking to brighten up my eyes and make them a teeny bit lighter... just to give a nicer contrast to my skin. I will add a couple pictures so you guys can get the idea of my natural eye color, but I should mention, that with the Solotica lenses I am not interested in the Hidrocharmes because I am not a fan of the limbal ring. Also, I do not mind large pupil holes, I think these look more natural on lighter eyes, and I do prefer my lenses to be fairly transparent. I have also tried the italian brand that I believe is not around anymore but they are the Only1Look or something like that, and they were sold on a website called CosmeticEyes.net I loved these because they were transparent like the Solotica lenses, the pupil hole was large and they had a huge variety in single color lenses as opposed to two or more (bi tone, tri tone) So if anyone knows lenses that would enhance my eyes by lightening them slightly to a more vibrant green I would be incredibly grateful! Sorry for the rant. I will attach several pictures of my eye color.

Hi kbeil. Welcome to Lens 101.

First of all, let me say that you and your friends are all very beautiful with really pretty eyes. (We notice eyes around here .) Secondly, we here at Lens 101 have a hard time resisting a post that says "please help."

Third, I'm sorry you got the impression that you're not welcome here. I don't know what gave you that idea. As long as your posts are actual questions and you're not trying to sell anything that's not related to contact lenses, glasses or sunglasses, you are always welcome here.

Now . . . about those green lenses. Acuvue 2 Colors Opaque have a nice Jade Green you might like. http://www.lens.com/contact-lenses/lens134.asp

Focus 1-2 Week SoftColors has one called "Evergreen" that you might find suitable. Here's a page with those green contacts and more: http://www.lens.com/view/green.asp

I'm pretty sure you will get these lenses in the mail faster than the Soloticas (If you live in the United States, that is.) and you will almost certainly save money, because those Soloticas are pretty, but they're also expensive.

Let me know what you think and if there's anything else we can do to help.

Wow, thank you for such a sweet response. I was pretty nervous about the comments I'd receive. :$ I did check out the links you sent me (thanks so much for providing them!) and I actually have friends that wear both varieties (a lot of my friends are of Asian decent and prefer light colored eyes). My issue with both brands is that they aren't very natural when upclose... which is my biggest issue, I want a lens that is nearly undetectable, which was the case with my Only1 lenses, or whatever the brand was, they were an Italian company that unfortunately I cannot find anymore. I also am looking for a lens that is like the Solotica's in that they are not completely opaque, they are actually fairly transparent... I'm looking for a suitable color though as my eyes are light enough where the Mel's looked yellow on my eyes. I know this is probably unrealistic because my eyes are pretty light as it is, but I'm looking for a lighter and brighter version of my eye color now. The color my eyes look when I'm sidelit by sun or bright lighting. Do you happen to know of any pictures with people with lighter eyes, like myself, wearing Solotica's or even the Acuvue or Focus lenses you sent me?? I'd be so grateful if you could respond again!

Thanks so much for replying the first time though!!!

Hi kbeil. Welcome to Lens 101.

I take it you looked at the pictures at that website that Captain Kremen told you about, but you didn't find any colors that were realistic enough. Does that sound right? If so, don't despair. The pictures on that site aren't the best. Did you try looking around here in Lens 101 for photographs of members wearing color contacts? There are quite a few of them here. Do you like the Acuvue Opaque or the Enhancers?

Here's where you can start looking for pictures: http://www.lens101.com/color-contact-lenses.html

Hi there, at the moment I'm not interested in anything offered on Lens.com I am interested in Solotica because they are the most realistic. If you're affiliated with them, which I'm assuming you are, because the only replies I've had have been ones telling me to go to that website and look at Acuvue lenses, you should encourage whoever you work for to try to carry Solotica lenses because they are favored by a lot of people regardless of their price... people know solotica's are nearly unbeatable in natural appearance and colors, but are in the mindset that they should try all these other brands that are incomparable in quality to try and find one they like and will end up spending more in the end on subpar quality lenses... but please, no more links or suggestions for acuvue or checking out lens.com, I'm interested in assistance with Solotica's... not to be mean, I just really am not interested in anything else and price is not an issue.

Hi there Kbeil.

Sorry about that.

I think the reason you're getting so many suggestions to try Lens.com is because they sponsor this site, so in that sense, everyone here is "affiliated" with them. To tell you otherwise would be like Max Headroom telling you to have a Pepsi.

Yes, the Solotica lenses are very nice looking and realistic, but they are also expensive. Most people are on a limited budget, and it makes sense to recommend a way to save some money. The other contacts may not be as realistic, but they're more affordable. If price is not an issue for you, then I say go for it.

Now that you've made your position clear, maybe the members of Lens 101 will stop plugging the sponsor in every post. Thanks for being polite about it.

I hope you will keep posting here and put up some pictures when those Soloticas arrive.

Maybe we should also explain to kbeil that, although there are very many people like her who want to buy Solotica lenses, www.Lens.com is an American based company and therefore does not and cannot legally sell Solotica lenses, which are not FDA approved.

Solotica have presumably decided not to go through the not inconsiderable trouble and expense of obtaining the FDA Approval for their lenses.

I understand that US residents can still purchase these lenses from a non-US source.

Thanks for that extra info, knotlob. I didn't know that Solotica lenses are not FDA approved. When you say "FDA" do you mean the "FDA" as in "Food and Drug Administration"? Do Soloticas need approval from this US-based organization if they themselves are not US-based?

Yes, FDA is the US Food & Drugs Administration.

I believe that since Contact Lenses are classified as Medical Devices in the US and must, as a result, under US Law require a prescription before they can be bought. If the contact lenses are not FDA approved, they cannot be sold in the US.

(Germany has some laws, which make it illegal to import prescription medicines into the country by Mail Order also, though it doesn't sound like there are any restrictions on US Citizens/US Residents buying contact lenses abroad).

Thank you VAB for taking my post so well and replying. I didn't know that this lens forum was actually a forum dedicated to Lens.com, I was under the impression it was similar to a forum I used to read that required you to be accepted into the forum but appears to not be around anymore. I believe it was called Lensaholic. I don't recall but I'm fairly sure it wasn't a sponsored site because it was open conversation about lenses without any people really advertising for any sponsored or affiliated sites. But thanks, I would like to get more Solotica's, but as I said, I tried the Mel's and they made my eyes look yellow so I was hoping for some assistance with Solotica's on light eyes.

Hi kbeil.

Lens 101 is a website that is for anyone who wants to join. Everyone is accepted, but those who do not behave themselves and repeatedly post rude comments are filtered out. You can feel safe here.

The forum has been set up by the good folks at Lens.com, but that doesn't mean that everyone here will say "If it isn't from Lens.com it's crap!" In fact, a quick look around will show you that a lot of people on this forum really like the Solotica lenses. Lens.com does not sell Soloticas, and yet those who like them are free to say so here.

I wish I could help you find some Soloticas for your light-colored eyes, but I'm afraid I don't know much about them. I'm sure someone else here can lend you a hand though.

Thanks for posting and I hope you find Lens 101 useful.

This is so heart warming that you guys are all so kind to me! I'm so pleasantly surprised, like I said, I was definitely nervous because of some of the comments I saw implying that people weren't welcome due to the color of their eyes not being dark enough... and it was more so like this in the other forum I referred to earlier (Lensaholic). To be honest, I've been searching for a good pair of lenses for years, and I have actually been on Lens.com a ton of times searching for lenses...I wish that there was something resembling the lens I'm looking for, unfortunately it is very specific to myself, if I could customize a lens, I would but I hate the look of hand painted lenses because they are 100 percent opaque and cause terrible tunnel vision as well. Again, thank you all for being so kind and replying to my post and helping me in the ways you know how! I'm very much in awe of the support you're all showing me *group hug* haha

It's nice to know that we have been helpful to someone Kbeil. I just wish we could help you narrow your search down a little more. If you've already look at all the Color Contact Lenses at Lens.com, I don't know what else to tell you. You've seen the vial lenses, right? Those are probably the closest thing Lens.com has to the custom lenses you seek. You can find out more about them here: http://www.lens101.com/vial-contact-lenses.html
