Default Can You Spot a Fake?

I just got finished reading something from a girl who said she can always tell when someone is wearing color contact lenses.

What about you? Is there some way that you can always use to spot fake eye color?

Hmmm... maybe if I knew that person very well. But with people I barely know, I doubt it. I am not really a good observer esp when it comes to something very close.

You're not a good observer of things that are very close? Are you far sighted, by any chance? I would think that things very close would be the easiest thing to observe.

That's good, furfur. How can you tell? Can you spot Color Contact Lenses in strangers? I try to look people in the eye when I speak to them, but I've never thought "Hmm. She's wearing green contact lenses and her eyes are actually brown."

well you can spot fake eye color whenever they blink you'll see the lens move to adjust and sometimes you can see those small spotted color patterns on the iris. However, there are some colored contacts that can fool us.

That's interesting. Is this something you can observe in a stranger? I think the actual question is if you can see someone on the bus and determine that they're wearing contacts. Maybe I'll start looking for that shift.

Well based from my own encounter I really have to go closer to see if they really are wearing one but since I'm living in South East Asia, it is quite easy to spot people who wear contacts especially in Malaysia. But then, in terms of the Caucasians I find it challenging to determine whether they wear contacts or not and this requires the observer to really strike up a conversation meanwhile catching a glimpse of that small line which represents the transparent edge of the contacts. Hehe

This sounds like a hobby of yours.

There's nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned. What I'd like to know is if anyone has fooled you into thinking they were not wearing color contacts when, in fact, they were.

Cool. What kind of contacts was your friend wearing? They must have been pretty good to fool a contact lens watcher like yourself.

Here's one of my hobbies. Did I plant a song in your head with the title of this posting?

Probably not if you're under 25.

Then again, you do call yourself Slade . . .

Have you fooled a lot of people with your contacts, loveme?

There's a story on Lens 101 somewhere told by a girl who wear contact lenses, and when some guy complemented her on how pretty her eyes were, she popped out her contact lenses and gave them to him.
That's a cute joke, but kind of expensive, don't you think?

Default Solotica joke

Well my joke is that i was wearing Soloticas Ice and they look blue on me, one of my boyfriends friends asked me is that ur true color, i said no, then my bf jumps in and says " Oh no her true eye color is a beautiful Hazel green not blue'!!....my eyes are dark brown, but been wearing SOloticas Natural Color MELs ever since I have been with him so he thinks my eyes are Hazel greenshhhhhh

Now I was buying disposable lenses every month or so, paying $12-$20 here and there wearing a lens that everyone knew was fake, so for $12 a month now I can wear a lens that look ssuper natural I wasted money on other lenses actually. These lenses last a year, i have been wearing them every day non stop for couple of months now Super happy...so its worth it.

Well that was nice of your boyfriend to comment on the "true" color of your beautiful eyes, but to be fair, men aren't very good at colors anyway. I've been in many conversations where I will say something is red, and a woman will tell me that it's pink. I say green, they say "emerald."

True, "hazel green" is pretty different from brown, so maybe I'm completely wrong in this case. It's a great story, though.

One last question. Should you be wearing your Soloticas Ice "every day non stop for couple of months"? Shouldn't you be cleaning them or removing proteins or something?

It's good to see someone taking their Contact Lens Care seriously. I guess that Clear Care is good stuff. One thing, though. You mentioned artificial tears. Do you use those every day?

98% of the time i can spot fake lenses, even the $400 custom made. they just look so fake and the brown's always popping out or they dont blend well. the only time i can't tell is when someone has light brown eyes and they're wearing hidrocor mels. other than that, all the time. i'd much rather not use contacts than use em and look fake because not only does it look weird but it makes me seem (i dont wanna say insecure, but for lack of better word) insecure. especially with the freshlooks, they're so gross. ugh, the fish eyes thing is not cute.

Hi there, venalelixir. Have you ever been fooled by colored contact lenses? I've seen a few pictures here on Lens 101 where a person is only wearing one contact lens and even though they're obviously wearing a colored contact lens, it's still hard to tell sometimes--unless you're really close to the person's face.

Refresh my memory. "BF" means "best friend" right? I thought it meant boyfriend until you said "one of your boyfriends" said one thing that your "bf" reacted to. Maybe t could mean both.

This can get especially confusing, as in a post I read in a similar website (Or maybe it was Lens 101) where a guy mentioned the contact lenses his "bf" wears and someone replied and said something about this guy's boyfriend. I hope he wasn't too offended.

I have a hard time believing that $400 custom made contact lenses are so easy to spot. Maybe I'll make more eye contact on the bus and see if I can spot a pair of customized contact lenses. What's the biggest giveaway? What is this "fish eye" thing you mentioned?

Fish eye look is pretty much then the lenses don't blend and the lens looks like it was painted over your iris. It gives the illusion that the contact lens is way closer than the pupil.

Here's a good example:

Those contacts are also off-center. I noticed that right away. Why not post that picture right here in this forum instead of a link to a different site. It's easy.

Those are also off center, but if you notice the lens it looks like it's popping out compared to the rest of the eye, that's what "fish eyes" look like.

And I don't know how to post a picture without saving it to my computer, and I got lazy. So maybe difficult for you, but easier for me, lol.

If you want to know how to post a picture, here's how.

First, find a picture that you like anywhere on the World Wide Web.

Right-click the picture and when the menu appears, click "Copy Image Location."

Come back to this page and click "Manage Attachments." See it down there? Just below this section here.

A tiny screen will open up. On that little screen, you will see a space labeled "Upload File From a URL." Paste the URL you copied when you clicked "Copy Image Location" into that space. (Ctrl+V)

Click the "Upload" button.

Viola!

Check back here if you have any questions. Happy copying and pasting!

See guys, nothing to it. I agree with Foxyboxer that you should post your pictures here instead of just putting a link in your post. What if people go off to the link and never come back?
