Well, i received yesterday my violet contact lenses, i went to pfortner (The manufacturer, i live in argentina) to buy them. I used this site to gather info when i was looking into this, and i thought that it would be nice to add a review about this lenses cause.. well, no one buys this color.
This lenses are Waicon Tricolor Lilac (Violet), with miopia and astigmatism correction (Toric). I took this photos today with my cellphone, so they are not that great, but they are pretty decent. ----------------------------------------------------- This are the accesories that came with the kit.. IMAG0818xxx.jpg A quick view of the lenses.. IMAG0819xxx.jpg Close up of one of them.. IMAG0821xxx.jpg A comparison between my natural eyes and the violet ones.. IMAG0827xxx.jpg A picture with both lenses.. IMAG0832xxx.jpg In this picture i turned my back to the sun so you can appreciate my eyes with a little more darkness. A friend told yesterday that the lenses looked more bright in the dark (We were in the street at night), i guess you will have to believe that because i can't take a picture of that, she seemed pretty sure. IMAG0834xxx.jpg And a picture of my face.. please don't run scared, haha. IMAG0841xxx.jpg I hope to have helped someone that wanted to buy this color =) Christian Last edited by LENS101; 06-28-2010 at 12:37 PM.. Hey Christian, nice to have you on the board. The contacts look nice. I hope you get a lot of good feedback from this site.
Thanks for those great pictures. I just got done posting a note about how helpful it is to get a picture of the person's whole face, and not just a big eyeball. |

Hi catt. Have you bought any violet contact lenses lately?

Those violet contacts look ironically natural, maybe its your skin tone and facial features that makes the violet contacts look natural. In that lighting the color looks like dark bluish-purplish(lol), but it looks natural and nice on you.
Just puttin in my two cents ![]() P.S. lol Don't take it the wrong way, but you kinda look scary, or maybe just angry in that last full face picture lol....smile. ![]() LOL @ HIS SMILE ![]() Last edited by Kamille206; 09-06-2010 at 01:39 AM.. |

I was just thinking of saying that, unclebuck. You were too quick.
Here you go, ladies. A big picture of Brad Pitt in a tuxedo and bow tie. You're welcome. Just leave it to ol' Face. |

I don't know, darolyn. I did a search for Waicon Tricolor Gray Torics but I didn't find anything that had all of those words together. Sorry.

I'd worn a colored toric for years, and when it was discontinued last year (along with dozens of other vial lenses), I was not willing to accept that FreshLook ColorBlends were my only option. As it turned out, I was one of the fortunate ones, and discovered that I am actually able to get by just fine with a non-toric lens, but only if it's a sturdier, annual lens (like my Soloticas), as opposed to the 3 non-toric colored lenses available in the US. Disposables don't stay put as well as annuals. If my astigmatism was higher, and it had turned out that the Soloticas didn't correct my vision sufficiently, I probably would have been taking a deep breath and sending my money to "a stranger on the internet" to get high quality colored toric lenses, even though I'm generally quite cautious. I understand what you're saying - it does seem a little bizarre, as though you're buying contacts from some shady dude on the street corner wearing a vial-lined trench-coat, but the American contact lens market has pretty much abandoned toric wearers who like colored lenses. For now, this appears to be the only way to get these lenses. I'm sure if this seller was ripping people off, there would be bad reviews all over the internet. Psssstt...need contacts? |

If Freshlooks were made out of better material, the pattern was way more natural, the colors were also more natural and were blended better, the color was far more opaque, and the pupil hole was much smaller then I guess they would be similar. Of course I do understand that is a little weird to buy contacts from some guy - that's why I researched Daniel thoroughly. In the end, the only reasons I haven't bought them from him yet are that I like Solotica so much and my yearly budget on contact lens is unfortunately limited. I even spoke to Daniel via several emails and he is a totally normal and cool guy. In Brazil, as in most countries besides the US, a prescription is not needed for contact lenses so it isn't SO weird to buy them from someone. These other countries trust the consumer to not be an idiot and see an optometrist...something the US does not! I can understand both viewpoints...but that's another topic! |

It doesn't seem like THAT much trouble to go through to buy annual lenses...if you are going to wear colored contacts for any length of time it is probably important to you that they look natural That said I don't think buying something from another country is so weird, I buy Korean and Japanese makeup all the time |

I'm always perplexed when people say things like "well, if you're willing to go to the time and trouble..." WHAT time and trouble? Shopping at an online site for contact lenses (or anything else for that matter) is no more difficult if the seller is in Antartica than it is if the seller is across the street!!!
And, it can hardly be explained by some misplaced patriotism, since about 90% of all retail goods sold in the U.S. are imported. I CAN see why people would be reluctant to purchase from Daniel, but again, it isn't as if it's some huge hassle. |

Since my pc monitor is on the blink, I printed some of Christian's pics to see the shade of violet of his Waicon Tricolor Lilac'/Violet lenses. They look really natural. The shade is cool. The pic of the lenses in their case is a bit a revealing and "unsettling" until you see the pics of Christian actually wearing them.
Before my pc monitor went on the blink, I saw a Youtube video called "Waicon Tri-kolor Lilac" in which a guy with dark curly hair has these same lenses. They look really NATURAL and the shade of violet is really V I O L E T. Very nice. I emailed this Daniel whatever guy in Argentina several months ago. He never replied. I Googled for info on these lenses and found out some other company bought the original makers in Argentina out. Anyhoo, I got an email today from Waicon/Waikon (?) and I replied with the URL of the Youtube violet lenses video mentioned above and stated I wanted these lenses specifically. Time will tell. So, has anyone bought these lenses lately? From whom? What web site? Thanks. Last edited by Recaredo; 04-18-2012 at 07:08 PM.. Reason: Forgot some remarks |

I printed the Magic Top Lavanda (Lavender) contact lenses. They don't compare with the lilac in Christian's photos which are the same ones in the Youtube video I mentioned above which are the most intense dark violet I have seen to date and NATURAL looking. I have one dark violet lens in one of my lens cases after ripping the other but those I bought years ago in New York City, so, I will have to take them to the optometrist to see he if can figure out what brand they are.

I can answer that for you, Maleficent. Toric lenses are specially made to correct astigmatism. They have a part called the "ballast" that's a bit thicker than the rest of the lens. The ballast is there to make sure that the lenses are properly aligned. It sounds weird, but if you have astigmatism, it's possible to wear your contacts "upside down" or "sideways." The ballast in a toric lens makes sure the lens is oriented properly.
