Thumbs up Daniel is for real, got my gray waicon lenses yesterday!

Just want to let you all know - in case you are skeptical - that Daniel (from Argentina) does indeed exist. I ordered the gray waicon lenses from him at the end of August and received them yesterday - I live in Florida. They were properly packed and I am very pleased with them.

Daniel and I exchanged a few emails and he always answered me promply. I still had a little dought because I never order online unless it's from business website but be assured, he does exist and if you order from him, you will receive your lenses.

Thank you again Daniel!

Daniel's email: imnotdead22@hotmail.com

I'm glad you got the contact lenses you ordered and that you are very pleased with them, but I'd still be more comfortable ordering from a company than an individual. I mean, ordering a book or a model train from some stranger on eBay is one thing, but something I'm going to wear in my eyes is something else.

It certainly is your choice, you do what you want.

My posting has nothing to do with anything else but say that Daniel is indeed who he says he is and he does send the lenses out.

Thanks, Midpom.

I'm curious if this announcement has inspired anyone to contact Daniel about contacts.

Well, I've been wanting to try a pair of Waikon Grays, so I ordered a pair from him. As Bessie said, he is very prompt with emails and he shipped the pair out last week. Now the wait begins!

Are they the same lenses you ordered, with the correct prescription? Did everything match up OK?

Yes, everything was correct - I put them in and they look GREAT! Also, they seemed to be easier to put in than my freshlooks.

Pics to come!

That was Diane "aka Midpom" who said that.

That's okay. These threads get a little confusing sometimes. Bessie wanted to know if Midpom's enthusiastic posting resulted in more sales for this "Daniel" person.

It's been a couple of months, Diane aka Midpom. Are you happy with your contact lens purchase? Have you bought anything else in the meantime?

Let us know how it goes. When you get the lenses and afterward. It looks like a couple of people so far have already gotten their contact lenses as advertised and are pleased with the speed of the order processing as well as with the contacts they got. It appears that all is well . . . except for the fact that the sponsor of this site didn't make a dime on the deals.

Does this mean people should only post if they purchase lens from lens.com?

Well no, obviously. Otherwise those posts would be deleted. Think about it though. Lens.com provides this nice forum for people to post on, and then someone comes along and tells you to buy your contact lenses someplace else.
It would be like going to Bob's Used Car Lot and Bob shows you a few cars, lets you test drive them, he answers all your questions, and then you turn around and tell everyone about the great deal you got from Larry's Automobile Emporium. It just isn't cool, you know? It makes people seem ungrateful.

If you did get a great deal on great contact lenses from someplace other than Lens.com, you don't necessarily have to identify them by name. You can say "I got some Biofinity contact lenses at another website and I really like them."

On the other hand, if you order from Lens.com and you're not happy with the service, you can and should post that here. If you got great service, post that too.

Does that make sense? The Webmaster doesn't seem to care, but some of the members of Lens 101 don't like people advertising for other contact lens sites here.

I agree, yournamehere. Lens.com made this website possible, so I think they deserve some loyalty.

I personally think that argument is valid if Lens.com sold the lenses themselves. Seeing as they do not carry Waicons, then I think it doesn't really apply.

Waicon lenses are not available at Lens.com, so if you buy them from another website, you don't have to identify that other site, do you?

I agree with MaryTamm2. You should respect the sponsor of this website. They're providing this free forum where you can learn all about contact lenses, so they should be respected. I'm not saying that you should not buy something that the sponsor doesn't sell, just don't advertise a competitor. Right?

Well, I can see what you mean, Eldrad, but on the other hand, if someone got some really great contact lenses, why shouldn't they tell people where they got them? Especially if Lens.com doesn't sell them. If you can't buy a certain brand of contact lenses from both places, it's really not a competition then, isn't it?

It's like if your city doesn't have a baseball team, why not go to the nearest city that has one and root for the home team, right?

It's a free country and all, but that means that if you're in a business, you have competitors who are equally free to advertise and so on. If I tell you that Lens.com does not sell Waicons, but that site over there does, you may go to that other site and not come back. If you go to that other site are you going to say "This site has everything I need. Why go anyplace else?" or are you going to say "This site is great. I'm glad someone from Lens.com told me about it. I should buy some stuff from them too to show my gratitude"?
Do you suppose that second scenario ever takes place?

I hope that second scenario does take place. If I was in a store and asked one of the people there if they have a certain product, and they said the didn't but then told me what store has them, I'd be very impressed. That's good customer service, although their managers might not agree. I'd buy what I needed, and then as a way of saying thank you, I'd buy something at the first store.

Hopefully it wouldn't be a store with lousy inventory and didn't have anything I was looking for.

I think the sponsor gets a lot of free advertising from people on this board giving recommendations, I would say that is in the majority vs the times that people mention other places to buy from. A bit of healthy competition isn't going to kill them. Plus, as someone else said, they don't stock things like Soloticas and Waicons, so it's basically irrelevant. If they see on this forum that the things they don't stock are becoming popular, maybe they will begin to stock them and business will improve - it could be good for them overall.

It's guaranteed that not everyone on here is going to shop with the sponsor anyway as this forum is international so most people are going to find sites based in their country to buy from - we're not all Americans!

/\ IIRC you have to have 15 posts in order to link to other sites or to post pictures within the body of the text, BUT you can post pictures from day one if you attach them - under the box you type the post in there's a bit called 'additional options' and under that there's a button that says 'manage attachments', you just stick them in there

Cool, p01son1vy. Thanks for the valuable info. I'm glad ThaMaster asked because I'm sure lots of people are wondering how many posts they need before they can attach a picture and if there's a way around this limitation.
