Default How do I brighten my -8.50 blue-green eyes? (photo)

Hi everyone!

I naturally have blue-green-hazel eyes in a -8.50 prescription (though I alternate between -8.50 and -9.00 contacts regularly and honestly cannot tell the difference), however I would love to try contact lenses that lighten my eye colour. I have used the following coloured contacts before:

* Acuvue enhancers in Aquamarine - I know they don't lighten eyes, but I was hoping they might brighten them, unfortunately all they did was make my eyes a darker shade of aqua/green
* Freshlook opaques in Green - this was a few years ago (when I was wearing -7.00 lenses) but they made my eyes a hideously unnatural shade of green

I'm happy with the colour of my eyes, but I would love contact lenses to wear on occasion which make them a few shades lighter - so, a light aqua or a light green, but not blue, and something that still looks natural.

I'm from Australia, and most of the contact lenses I've seen in stores are either the Acuvue Opaques or the FreshLook ColorBlends and opaques (they do only go up to -8.00 though but I suppose I could give them a try?) However, I'm worried that these will add too much colour and not actually make my eyes look lighter/brighter.

Otherwise, I'm more than happy to buy online, and I've mainly been looking at the Solotica contact lenses, especially the ones with a limbal ring (so not the Hidrocor ones):
* Mel - though I'm worried that they'll look too yellow
* Ice Mint/Cristal
* Quartzo

But I'm yet to find photos of people who have similar eye colour to me wearing these lenses. Alot of the photos I've seen have a very obvious dot matrix pattern which I'm a bit scared of!

Could anyone please give me some advice? Mind you, I wouldn't be wearing them everyday, just something to wear on special occasions to make my eyes look a bit different.

Thankyou!

I've attached a photo of my eyes with flash on.

Thanks for contacting Lens 101 and attaching a picture.

It sounds to me like you could use some vial contact lenses. They're expensive, but they come in a wide variety of colors and if you need a -8.50 prescription, they're just about your only option.

Go to http://www.lens.com/contact-lenses/lens138.asp and take a look at Ciba Soft SoftColors. They have an Aqua you might like. If not there are several different brands of vial lenses you can choose. Let us know if you find something you like.

Hi K-9, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the CibaSoft softcolours aren't what I'm looking for because I'd like something that brightens/lightens my eyes and not something that adds colour to them - which is why I'm interested in the Soloticas.

Has anyone tried the Soloticas Icemint/Crystal on light/medium blue/green/hazel eyes? I think these would be ideal, but I am worried that the dot matrix pattern will be too visible and will look very fake.
