Question Best lenses for DARKENING eyes

Sounds like a weird request, doesn't it?

I do some part-time modeling, and there are times that it's better to use contacts to tint my eyes vs. the process of Photoshopping them. I've been very happy with Freshlooks in Brilliant Blue and Pure Sapphire, but I've been having a terrible time finding lenses that will change my green/gray eyes to a medium color brown.

Accuvues are horrible - they don't change my color at all, plus every time I blink, they roll around on my eyes. Freshlooks are somewhat better - I get a bronze/green tint. I just ordered a pair of B&L Softlens in color "India" and they were just as ineffective as the Accuvues (but didn't slip around).

The only ones that had worked were a custom pair from 9mm - but these are a semi-transparent brown tint that don't have any gleam to them. I *could* probably go back to them for another pair, but I really don't want to spend $300 for a pair of lenses I'll wear only occasionally.

Attached is a pic of the 9mm brown in the left eye and my natural color in the right eye

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Default Yaay!

Hello^^

I have the same eye color as yours and i suggest you to try out CL-Tinters - Images in dark brown!
It looks really natural in my opinion. They just covered my hole eyes^^ but if u really study those lenses close you can see a tiny Mini little bit of the real eye.

This girl wears them^^: w ww. youtube.com/ watch?v=pgePHwox5v8

But only con.... the lens comes in 8.6 / 14.2 and is a little to big.

But i was searching again for brown lenses and found another dark brown lens from the same Brand: CL-Tinters- Colortones in dark brown. They come in 8.7/14.4.... i haven't tried them out yet but i will soon^^ Hopefully those aren't so big.

Yep the basecurve/diameter are a little bigger as it says but maybe this is some other kind of lens that isn't so big^^ hopefully....

Default Woo-hoo! SUCCESS!!!

Based on Noodlefan's suggestion, I ordered a pair of dark brown "Images" CL-Tinters as well as a "Hazel" pair. I ordered the Hazel in the event that the dark brown's were going to be too dark.

Nope.

The hazel were a very orangey color and changed my eyes to a sickly pale green. They would probably be good to lighten darker eyes.

But the dark browns were PERFECT!

I will take pics this weekend, but these tinters do exactly what I wanted. My eyes look like a nice warm brown with them in.

Really beats a $150 custom pair and more comfortable too!

Thank you, Noodlefan! Thank you!

Can't always tell with a message, but are you being facetious? They really are very good-looking lenses - are there any pics with people using these in the the blue tones?

I don't know what Railfan's intentions were, but reading that statement makes me feel like if these lenses are good enough for someone who gets paid to look good, then maybe I should check them out. Models are always looking for an edge in a very competitive and fickle market. If Color Contact Lenses can give a model that edge, then they might look pretty good on a regular person like me.

Default Final Results

I want to thank Noodlefan and everyone else here on lens101 for their help. I was in the middle of a film project using theatrical quality silicone masks and these lenses really made the difference between "mask" and "reality".

Just a little background - I'm of English-Swedish stock with gold-brown hair and light green eyes. I was able to do this using the mask, the contacts and a little bit of foundation around the eyes themselves:

That's what I thought when I read that "part-time models" remark. If a person is a professional model, something that looks "kind of nice" just isn't going to be good enough.

As long as you know they're not genuine D & G sunglasses, then that's cool, I guess. They look good, in any case.

Yep, you get pretty good determining what's an imposter and what "fell off the back of a truck"

Okay, second from my left is Gene Simmons, to his left is Paul Stanley, but can anyone identify which one is Peter Criss and which is Ace Frehley?

My friends would freak if they heard me name all four members if Kiss. I seem so mild-mannered.
