Default New to lenses, I have no idea :-/

Hi, I have liked the idea of coloured lenses for a while, but i never really looked into them till recently, and, well theres a fair few choices .. I really like the look of Hidroharme Ice (i think thats what its called?) Are there any others similair to this that are better? Or cheaper? Is there anything i NEED to know before I purchase contats? Sorry for all the questions lol .. My eyes are a medium-ish colour. Theyre hazel, will they be good on my eyes? .. TIA x

Hi there dawngalloper. It's nice to have you here with is on the forum. You're right, there are a lot of choices when it comes to colored contact lenses. Lens 101 is sponsored by Lens.com, a US website that sells all kinds of contact lenses, just not Hidrocharme. Judging by the way you spell "colored" I'd say you were outside the US. That's fine. Just go to Lens.com and take a look at the lenses that they offer on their website. If you find something you like you can send them an email and ask if they will send them to you. Let us know what happens with that, okay?

Hi there dawngalloper. Thanks for posting all the questions.
Those Hidrocharme contact lenses are very pretty, but they're also expensive. Teddikitty had a good idea, and that's to check Lens.com and see what they've got.

Hi dawngalloper. Welcome to Lens 101. Will you roll your eyes in disgust if I wish you "g'day"?

So Australians don't actually say "g'day"? I'm so bummed! Did they stop when Paul Hogan made it popular?

Where have you been searching for those blue/grey contact lenses? Lens 101 has pictures of the lenses, but they're mostly drawings rather than photographs. That gives you an idea of the color, but it's not 100% accurate.
What about Google? Do a search for "blue grey contact lenses" and see what comes up, and then check to see if Lens.com sells them.
I found these, which are "Sultry Grey" by Natural Touch Opaque (sometimes called Elegance Opaque). Is this the blue/gray you were looking for?

They look blue/gray to me. I hope that dawngalloper feels the same way.

Yes theyre really nice .. Exactly the colour I want .. .. Opaque means they will cover dark eyes right? I tried to post a picture of my eye colour but i cant post links/pictures till I have 15 posts.

Umm, My dad says G'day .. A lot of country people do. I grew up in the city till i was about 11 then moved out bush .. And FTR, we don't put "shrimp" (AKA prawns .. which is what we actually call them) on the barbi .. lol ..

Anyway, bak to the contacts, I'm now eagerly awaiting pay day ..(damn car rego!) ...

Okay, now you have to explain to us Yanks what a "car rego" is.

To answer your earlier question, "opaque" means that it will cover your natural eye color and it won't show. If you want a contact lens color that allows a little of your natural eye color to mix in, then look for "enhancers."

Well then Opaque is definately what I want

Car rego is registration, your car has to be registered to be able to drive it. I only have a small, cheap car so I had to pay $700. So basically your car is checked to be road worthy by an approved mechanic (which is cheap) Then the rest is for compulsory third party insurance... If your car doesnt have it then you'd be in just as much trouble as if you were to not have a license. I thought it was next month, not this month .. Oops ..

Thanks dawngalloper. I saw a skit on SNL when a famous Australian supermodel took calls from lonely American guys and spoke to them in her native slang. One of the guys responded with "I don't know what that means, but it sure sounds hot!" She may have mentioned her car rego, but I'm not sure. More likely she said something risque about his didgeridoo.

Yes, I was afraid of that when I read NYGiant's suggestion.

So what have former Natural Touch/Elegance Opaque patients been buying?

Ah. Bad news for Lens.com.

Well, as long as the people wearing the contact lenses are happy, that's what really matters, right?
