Unhappy ANYONE KNOW WHAT's GOING ON??

Hey Guys,, I just saw the news about Durasoft 3 Complements, by Ciba Vision, being discontinued. Id this Wesley Jensen, Durasoft 3 Complements color contact the same thing?
They are still making those, right?
And, why will it not let me select two different base curve's on my order?
My Dr, did write my RX for left eye 8.3, and right eye 8.6
I find that my eyeballs, are shaped a little differently..
If anyone has any answers, would greatly appreciate it..
I am trying to order from Lens.com, this time!
Thanks
And, WHY can't I find, a Toric colored lense, out there??

Hi sproutjps. It looks like you're having a tough time. Let me see if I can help.

According to Lens.com "We have been notified by the manufacturer, CIBA VISION, of a delay in manufacturing and delivery for Durasoft 3 Colors - Complements (D3*CO). At this time CIBA VISION does not know when shipping of Durasoft 3 Colors - Complements (D3*CO) will resume. "

It looks like CIBA Vision has temporarily stopped making Durasoft 3 Colors for right now. I also saw it on a few other sites, so it's not just Lens 101. I couldn't find any specifics though. Just that there's a "delay in manufacturing."

I'm afraid that's all I have. I don't know what is causing this delay, or how long it will be until production resumes. If you'd like, you can call them at 1-800 LENS.COM (536-7266). Customer service is available Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM CST.

If you prefer email, then you can contact them here: Service@Lens.com.

You can send an email any time you like.

Hello, sproutjps. I looked on Lens.com and it looks like they have the same message there as the one up above quoted by CaptainKremmen, and there's a little more, too:

We have been notified by the manufacturer, CIBA VISION, of a delay in manufacturing and delivery for Durasoft 3 Colors (D3*OP). At this time CIBA VISION does not know when shipping of Durasoft 3 Colors (D3*OP) will resume. Please rest assured, this is a manufacturing issue. We will contact you as soon as we have a confirmed date for resumption of manufacturing. Do not cancel your order if you want to receive your contact lenses as soon as they are available. Your place in the order queue will be retained by your order. We will ship you your contact lenses as soon as we receive them from CIBA VISION.

Note: Your Credit Card will NOT be charged until the order is shipped

Are you waiting for an order to be shipped? If so you will probably know about the resumption of shipping before we do here on the forum. I hope you'll give us a heads up.

Oh, I checked the order page and it looks like I can select an 8.3 base curve for one eye and 8.6 for the other. What happened when you tried it?

Hi sproutjps. I went to Lens.com and looked up Wesley Jessen under "Manufacturer" and then found the only thing that looked to me like "D3 colors," which was Durasoft 3 Colors (D3*OP) contact lenses. This page right here: http://www.lens.com/contact-lenses/lens241.asp

On that page you will see some red text that explains about that "delay in manufacturing and delivery."

On that page is also a drop-down menu called "base curve", and when you click on the arrow you see the options of 8.3 (STEEP) 8.6 (MEDIAN) 9.0 (FLAT).

Are you talking about color contacts, KelsieH? I went to the CIBAVision page of Lens.com and found that they've discontinued a lot of their toric and vial lenses, and as far as color disposable lenses go, as far as I know you can still order Focus 1-2 Week SoftColors, Focus Monthly SoftColors, and NewVues Colors in addition to those "lousy FreshLooks."

Yes, I'm talking about all the Durasoft/Wesley Jessen color contacts, particularly the Durasoft 3 Optifit Toric Opaque Colors. CIBA doesn't make any lenses I can use now, not only because the "colors" they have now are useless on my eyes, but they now don't even make any toric lenses, colored or plain, that come in my Rx. The D3 OPT Toric Colors were it for me. I can't wear Focus 1-2 Week SoftColors, Focus Monthly SoftColors, NewVues Colors or the Freshlooks. There's nothing out there even close. Now I guess I gotta go get LASIK.

I'm sorry about that, KelsieJH. What about vial lenses? They come in a whole mess of colors and they're custom made, so you'll be able to get them in your prescription. The only problem is that they're expensive, but probably not as expensive as LASIK.

Wow. I wonder why so many are being discontinued? Maybe people should steer away from the vial lenses.

I think it's just to make my life Hell. The closest thing I can find is having some custom made at about $600 a pair. I was paying about $250 a pair for the Durasoft 3 Optifit Toric Opaque Colors. I've been buying and wearing them well over 10 years without a single infection or problem of any kind. Apparently there wasn't a recall or a bunch of complaints about it, just the lovely FDA coming in to screw things up for no good reason. Made a fuss about the way they were packaged and shipped. Cibavision got frustrated and instead of just fixing the problem, they decided to just scrap the whole line and leave us all totally screwed. The big excuse is they are so old and technology has improved, these are obsolete, etc. Not true. The "new technology" has N O T H I N G I can even wear.

Wow, that's too bad KelsieJH. I wish I could recommend something, but it sounds to me like it's Durasoft 3 Optifit Toric or nothing for you. Lens.com recommends FreshLook ColorBlends Toric, but you've probably already tried those.

As I said before, not only are the ColorbBlends Toric colors so subtle and lame they are a bad joke, I can't even wear them because the Rx strength is no where close to what I need. So even if I liked them I still couldn't wear them.

Sorry. I must have missed that in the thread above. That's all I've got. Hopefully someone will be along soon to give you a better suggestion.

The Freshlook Colorblends are a joke. The colors are so subtle they just make eyes look weird. I can't wear them anyway because the Rx isn't made strong enough for me. I haven't been able to find anything else in America. How can you do this, CIBAVISION???
