Default High Astigmatism???--or Not???

Saw an opthiamologist a few days ago (having weird headaches affecting vision in left eye) -- who examined my eyes ( after removal of my lenses) and told me that my astigmatism was incredibly high. He mentioned that it may have been the result of me wearing my contacts before the exam?

The strange thing is, before I saw him,I was examined by whoever??? While wearing my none toric -- just regular Colors lenses.
The results were: 20/20 & 20/30 viewing eye chart.
Does any of this make any sense to anyone? Would have asked a ton of questions to the doctor; however, he was definitely NOT Dr. Friendly -- more like "I am a highly educated/intelligent Specialized DOCTOR, who has better things to do than "TALK DOWN TO YOU". Doctor God, in other words!

Any ideas/thoughts regarding the above?

Well, my first thought was that you need to find another doctor, but that's not always easy.
Do you wear rigid contact lenses, cattt? Those could reshape your eyes so enough to change the result of your eye test.

Now, I'm not an eye doctor, but from what I learned on this site, 20/20 is perfect vision and 20/30 is pretty close. Do you know what your numbers were right after you took your contacts out? If your stigmatism is "incredibly high" then the second number should be much higher. Something like 20/80 or something.

You are correct -- I am going to see another opthamologist and NO, I wear soft colored contacts , for a million years it seems. Can't quite get the hang of the toric ones (they don't seem to fit my eye correctly, and I have tried many different types and brands).
No, he didn't tell me how bad --in numbers -- what my prescription might be. Perhaps he felt it was unnecessary, as I am supposed to fitted in a few days for new lenses -- this is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN -- as I can see really pretty good most of the time with the prescription I now have (except for the headache type vision problems for which he has absoutely no explanation. Go Figure!

So you're willing to put up with the headaches then?
Then again, if your doctor can't figure out what's causing the headaches then there's no guarantee that a different brand of contact lenses will help, is there?

I hope you and your doctor can get this figured out and cure those vision problems.

I hope your eye doctor is reasonable when you tell him that you don't want to be fitted for new lenses.
